Chapter 774 I'm Also Confused
It turned out that Jonathan had another purpose for coming to find her.
Upon hearing Jonathan's purpose, Katherine didn't feel repulsed; on the contrary, she felt a bit relieved.
Compared to a work-related purpose, Katherine was more afraid that Jonathan had emotional intentions towards her.
Jonathan had genuinely helped her before, and she hadn't forgotten.
She couldn't reciprocate emotionally, and she had told Jonathan that if he ever needed help, he should just ask, and she would help if she could.
It was rare for Jonathan to ask her for help, and she didn't want to refuse.
But it wasn't something she could decide on her own; it indeed required the Melville Group to hold a shareholders' meeting to decide.
"I'll consider your idea. When I have time, I'll go inspect that piece of land at the Mostow Group. If we can collaborate, I'll try to make it happen."
Jonathan smiled and nodded, "Thanks, Katherine! You have no idea how much that piece of land has been troubling me. If we can collaborate with the Melville Group, it would really solve a big problem for me!"
Katherine said, "Don't thank me just yet. I only promised to try to make it happen; the final decision isn't mine alone."
Jonathan smiled warmly, looking at her through the rearview mirror, "I know. Just the fact that you're willing to help means a lot to me. The result isn't the most important thing."
For a moment, Katherine met Jonathan's affectionate gaze in the rearview mirror, furrowed her brows, and instinctively looked away, gazing out the window.
"Focus on driving and watch the road!"
Jonathan responded with a smile, "Got it!"
After that, Jonathan didn't glance at the rearview mirror again, but he kept chatting with Katherine.
Although Katherine found him somewhat annoying, she remembered that he was her benefactor and didn't want to be too cold, so she responded intermittently.
About half an hour later, the car arrived at the entrance of the Melville Manor.
Julian had already fallen asleep in Katherine's arms.
Jonathan got out of the car, opened the door for Katherine, and reached out to help her with the child.
Katherine shook her head and refused, holding Julian herself as she slowly got out of the car.
She didn't want to wake her sleeping son. Julian must have had a complicated day, and falling asleep wasn't easy. If someone else held him, he would surely wake up.
Jonathan stood helplessly by, watching her get out of the car with the child.
Katherine adjusted her hold on Julian to make him more comfortable, then politely thanked Jonathan and told him to be careful on his way.
Unexpectedly, Jonathan said, "You're just going to let me go? Not even inviting me in for a cup of coffee or to sit for a while?"
Katherine frowned and looked at him disdainfully, "Do you think that's appropriate?"
Jonathan shrugged, "I'm just kidding! Go on in, I'm leaving! If there's any news about the Silvershade Vale development, just contact me!"
Katherine nodded, watched him get into his car, and then carried Julian into the Melville Manor.
As soon as she entered, she ran into Fiona, who had been secretly watching from not far away.
Fiona stepped out from behind an old tree, frowning, "Katherine, didn't you go out with Teresa? Why did Jonathan bring you back? Do you still keep in touch with him?"
Holding her child, Katherine glanced at her and walked inside, saying, "Teresa is still at her friend's place. I ran into Jonathan, and he gave us a ride back."
"Ran into him? Gave you a ride? That's too much of a coincidence!" Fiona said skeptically.
Katherine raised an eyebrow, "What? Are you suspecting me or Jonathan?"
Fiona sensed Katherine's irritation and quickly waved her hands, "No, no! Katherine, I would never suspect you! I'm just worried that Jonathan has ulterior motives towards you! You should be careful and try to avoid contact with him."
Katherine said, "Even if it wasn't a coincidence, he came to me this time for a business collaboration. Don't overthink it."
Fiona followed behind Katherine, "Business collaboration? What kind of collaboration do we have with the Mostow family?"
Since nothing was finalized yet, Katherine didn't want to explain too much to Fiona, who didn't understand anything. She turned her head to look at her and asked, "Why are you alone? Where are Charles and Edith?"
Fiona pointed towards the garden, "Charles and Edith are flying kites over there! I have several servants with them. I was with them too, but when I saw you being brought back by Jonathan, I came over!"
Katherine looked towards the garden. Not too far away, Charles and Edith were indeed flying something. Looking up at the sky, she saw the kite's design and was surprised, "That kite..."
Fiona raised her chin proudly, "Katherine, you noticed! That kite is the same model that George lost while chasing it! I asked many friends to find out where to buy it and had someone bring it from abroad! George hasn't been in a good mood lately, and I thought seeing this kite would make him very happy!"
Katherine was touched by Fiona's thoughtfulness. She truly loved the children, no less than Katherine herself.
However, Katherine looked down at the sleeping child in her arms, her expression complicated.
The child in her arms wasn't George but the one who had been lost three years ago!
And the kite George had been chasing recently belonged to this child.
Seeing something he already had again probably wouldn't make him very happy!
Fiona might be disappointed!
Before Katherine could say anything, Fiona eagerly said, "Katherine! Wake George up and show him the kite! I can't wait to see the look of pure joy on his face!"
Katherine shook her head and didn't let Fiona wake Julian. "Let's show him when he wakes up. He just fell asleep and won't be happy if he's woken up. You go accompany Charles and Edith; I'll come find you later."
With that, Katherine carried the child into the house.
Fiona scratched her head in confusion. After seeing Katherine enter the house, she took out her phone and called Teresa.
"Hello? Teresa, what are you doing? Didn't you say you were going to have your psychologist friend give Katherine a good counseling session? How did it end up with Jonathan bringing Katherine back? You didn't bring her home yourself, letting another man take advantage!"
Teresa said, "Katherine didn't wait for me and left with the child! I'm confused too! Did you see Jonathan bring her back?"
