Chapter 665 Alex Gets Killed
Ambrosia looked more serious than usual when she turned to Sunny. "Things are different now. She's almost due, so we gotta be extra careful. Now that she's staying with you, make sure you take good care of her for me."
Sunny got where Ambrosia was coming from and felt kinda happy she trusted him. "Got it! Don't worry, I'll head back to take care of Katherine right after lunch!"
Ambrosia added with a hint of something, "And if you can, keep her away from the media for a bit."
Sunny was puzzled. "How am I supposed to do that? The internet's everywhere, how can I stop her from seeing the news?"
Ambrosia adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses. "Just make sure no weirdos talk to her. And you, no matter what crazy news you hear, don't tell her. Got it?"
Sunny sensed something was off with Ambrosia today and asked, "Ambrosia, what's going on?"
Ambrosia replied, "Nothing, just remember what I said!"
She wasn't trying to be secretive; telling Sunny would just make things riskier.
It was safer if he didn't know. If he heard it from someone else, her words would serve as a reminder. It all depended on whether he remembered.
Ambrosia stood up. "Let's go eat. Didn't you come here to have lunch with me?"
Sunny snapped out of it and eagerly stood up to follow. "What are we eating?"
Ambrosia said casually, "Just something simple from the company cafeteria I'll have a car take you home after we eat."
Sunny felt a bit let down. "What? I came all the way here, and we're just going to the cafeteria?"
Ambrosia smiled, "If you don't like our cafeteria, you can go home and eat."
Sunny shook his head. "It's not that I don't like it! I just think the cafeteria's too crowded, not great for a private chat! I just wanna spend some time alone with you!"
Ambrosia ignored him and walked towards the cafeteria.
Meanwhile, in the café downstairs of the Crescent Group building.
Anthony looked at Teresa, who had swollen eyes, and asked worriedly, "Teresa, what's wrong? Why are you crying?"
Teresa's hands were cold as she held the hot coffee the waiter just brought, tears still streaming down her face. "Alex was killed yesterday!"
Anthony was shocked. "Mr. Melville was killed? Who would dare to kill him? What happened?"
Teresa wiped her uncontrollable tears, trying to speak more clearly. "Yesterday, there was an explosion at an abandoned heavy industrial plant on the outskirts of the city. The police found Alex's car there, along with a male body suspected to be Alex."
Anthony was completely stunned. He had seen the news yesterday. The explosion incident was trending, but the identity of the male body found at the scene hadn't been disclosed.
It must have been the Melville Group suppressing the news to keep Alex's situation under wraps.
Teresa sobbed, "Alex must have been set up! Otherwise, why would he go to an abandoned factory on the outskirts?"
Anthony asked, "Did Mr. Melville go alone?"
Teresa's voice was hoarse from crying. "He had his trusted aide and the family driver with him."
Anthony asked, "What about those two? Were they rescued?"
Teresa shook her head. "They're missing."
Anthony frowned. He felt bad for Teresa, but he had no clue about the inner workings of such a powerful family and couldn't help her figure it out.
Teresa wasn't looking for Anthony to analyze anything. She was just too upset and needed someone to talk to. "The house is a mess right now. My parents told me not to make a fuss, but I'm so sad. Alex always looked out for me since I was little! Even though he was strict, he'd give me anything I wanted."
Anthony gently patted Teresa's shoulder and sighed, "Teresa, I get that you're sad, but I don't know how to comfort you."
Teresa wiped her tears. "I'm okay. I can cry and talk to you, but Katherine is worse off. She doesn't know about Alex yet. When I found out yesterday, I wanted to call her, but Frank stopped me. He said Katherine is almost due, and knowing about Alex's death would definitely affect her health!"
Anthony paused, feeling a bit uneasy about why Frank was with his girlfriend, but given the situation, he let it go. He just comforted her, "Didn't Alex and Katherine break up? I remember Katherine didn't want to forgive Alex, so she might be sad but not too emotionally affected. Teresa, don't worry too much!"
Teresa shook her head vigorously. "You don't understand. Even though Alex and Katherine had issues, we all saw that they loved and cared for each other deeply. They just hadn't resolved their misunderstandings."
Anthony was about to say something when he saw a figure appear behind Teresa, walking towards them.
He stood up, feeling a bit awkward and nervous. "Mr. Perez, you're here for coffee too?"
Teresa sniffled and turned around to see Frank.
Frank raised his arm and glanced at his watch before saying to Anthony, "Anthony, your lunch break is almost over. If you don't get back to the office, you'll be late."
Anthony quickly explained, "Mr. Perez, Teresa's family member passed away, and I was comforting her."
Frank glanced at Teresa and then back at Anthony. "Regardless of the reason, company policy is to dock your attendance if you're late."
Anthony felt the pressure from Frank. "Alright! I'll go clock in right now!"
After speaking to Frank, Anthony apologized to Teresa, "Teresa, I'm sorry! I have to get back to work now. I'll contact you after work! Don't cry anymore; the dead can't come back to life. Eat something and don't cry yourself sick!"
As he spoke, he hurriedly and helplessly left.
After Anthony left, Frank sat down in front of Teresa and spoke in a slightly gentle yet reproachful tone, "Why do you tell everything to an outsider?"
Teresa couldn't hold back her tears, feeling a mix of sadness and a sense of injustice. "Anthony is not an outsider to me."
