Chapter 188 Mrs. Melville Is Jealous
Upon hearing this, Alex's dim gaze swept towards Scarlett, then back to Katherine, with the same look of seeking approval as before.
Katherine furrowed her brows. Why was he looking at her like that again? What? Was he too embarrassed to refuse his 'savior' and wanted her to play the bad guy?
He was so cunning and scheming!
Fine, considering how well he had treated her recently, she would help him out!
Katherine propped her chin with one hand, lazily turned her face towards Scarlett, and said, "Miss Mitchell, you know your brother 's subordinates need to get to work on time. Don't you realize that your Alex also needs to get to the company early to handle business?"
The phrase 'your Alex' made the man beside her frown deeply.
Scarlett looked a bit aggrieved, her eyes drooping, appearing even more innocent and delicate. "Katherine, that's not like that. I didn't mean it that way. I just thought that since Alex is the highest authority in the company, no one would mind if he was late. But Billy is an employee, and he needs to clock in at Bernard's company. Their rules are very strict, and if he's late, he'll be fined."
Katherine smiled lightly and teased. "Miss Mitchell, you're so considerate, always thinking of others. No wonder they're all willing to 'go through fire and water' for you!''

Hearing this, Scarlett's eyes trembled, showing a bit of embarrassment, and she asked, "Alex, aren't you going to the company today? Just give me a ride so Mr. Nelson doesn't have to go out of his way."
Alex's attitude was indifferent, and he nodded towards Katherine. "Mrs. Melville is jealous, it's inconvenient."
Katherine was baffled.
Katherine thought, 'Hello?! Who's jealous? Alex is so unfair, using me as an excuse to escape the moral obligation of his 'savior'!'
Scarlett was stunned, looking hurt, and wanted to say more.
But Leander had already come over, interrupted her, and made a slight gesture, "Miss Mitchell, please come with me. I'll take you home."

Katherine smiled and replied, "Take care."
Scarlett left with Leander reluctantly, and Billy sensibly followed.
Only Sunny was left with the Melville family, standing in the dining room waiting for his fate.
The maid brought the freshly prepared breakfast to Katherine, the food still steaming.
Katherine was hungry, so she picked up the knife and fork and started eating the eggs and bacon on her plate. As she ate, she felt a pair of deep eyes staring at her, the gaze extremely suggestive, wrapping around her like hot threads, getting tighter and tighter.
She frowned uncomfortably and glared up. "Alex, aren't you going to the company?"
Alex feigned offense, his brow furrowing playfully. "Are you trying to get rid of me already?"
Katherine shook her head and answered, "No! I see you've finished breakfast, yet you're still sitting here wasting time instead of going to work?"
Alex smiled. "I'm not in a hurry."
Katherine twitched her mouth. "If you're not in a hurry, sit tight, and stop staring at me."
Alex raised an eyebrow and questioned, "You made me stay in the study all night last night, and now I can't even look at you?"
Katherine snorted sarcastically, "You know what they say, Alex? When emperors fall, it's always the women who get the blame. I don't want to be the next 'femme fatale' of the Melville Group. You wouldn't want that, would you?"
"Sharp-tongued! Who would dare to call you that?" Alex was both amused and annoyed by her.
Katherine was clearly trying to get him to go to the company, but she said it so humorously that it was hard to get angry.
Katherine rolled her eyes and added, "If they don't dare to say it to your face, they would gossip behind my back, and it wouldn't be anything nice!"
He squeezed her cheek, a mixture of love and exasperation in his eyes. "Alright, alright, I won't let you be branded a witch. I'll go to work now, but I'll deal with you, little rascal, when I get back!"
Katherine ignored him.
Alex stood up, but his big hand rested on the back of her chair, slowly leaning in. His cold, hard eyes were now soft and gentle.
It was a blatant request for a goodbye kiss, which made Katherine a bit resistant, especially with the underage Sunny watching in the dining room!
She cleverly used her fork to stab a piece of ham from the plate quickly and fed it to Alex's mouth.
Alex paused, his eyes showing some dissatisfaction, but he still opened his mouth and ate the ham.
Although he didn't get the 'taste' he wanted, he was delighted by Katherine's rare gesture of feeding him. Even if it was just ham, it warmed his heart.
He said, "Be good."
He finally straightened up, his rough hand covering her head and playfully ruffling her hair. Then, he took the coat handed by the maid, draped it over his arm, and walked away with steady steps.
Katherine blushed, her shyness not fading. She took a sip of warm milk to calm her heart, which Alex had stirred.
Beside her, Sunny was stunned. He had never seen such a lively Alex. The Alex he knew was a humorless, unfunny, eternal iceberg.
But just now, Alex, when dealing with Katherine, was like a husband deeply in love with his wife, full of life, joking and playing with her.
If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, he wouldn't believe that Alex's cold face could make so many vivid expressions.
Therefore, Sunny became more wary of Katherine. If this continued, Katherine would really steal away Alex, whom his sister loved the most!
What about his sister Scarlett? She couldn't live without Alex!
After eating, Katherine got up and walked towards Sunny.
Sunny didn't back down and stated, "Do whatever you want!"
