Chapter 736 Long Time No See

Sandra comforted Katherine with a pained expression, "Alright, Katherine, take the kids to wash up and rest for a bit. We'll get ready for dinner soon."

Katherine nodded.

Charles led Edith upstairs first, with Katherine following behind the two children. After a few steps, she noticed Julian hadn't followed and turned back to look.

Julian stood there, looking around blankly and helplessly.

Katherine turned around, bent down, and picked up him, feeling a bit guilty for possibly speaking too harshly to him today, which might have scared him.

"George, Mommy will take you upstairs for a bath, and then we'll come down together to have dinner with your great-grandma, okay?"

Julian didn't speak; he just lay quietly on Katherine's shoulder, seeking comfort. He liked the scent of this beautiful woman; it felt so soothing.

Watching Katherine take the three children upstairs, Fiona leaned over to Sandra and whispered, "Grandma, today George suddenly started crying for his dad. Katherine might be affected by it and is probably missing Alex."

Sandra froze for a moment, then she sighed deeply, "Katherine has had a tough time these years, waiting for Alex to come back..."

Katherine bathed Edith first, dried her hair, and changed her into clean, fresh pink pajamas.

Then, she filled the bathtub with a shallow amount of water and let Charles bring Julian in for a bath.

The boys loved playing with water, so she usually gave them some toys to play with in the water before helping them bathe.

Edith played with her doll on the bed while Katherine, half-lying at the head of the bed with her laptop, looked up some work-related matters.

There was an auction tomorrow, and a piece of land up for auction was something the Melville Group had always wanted.

Before Alex went missing, he had always wanted to buy that piece of land, but the owner had no intention of selling it at the time.

The location of that land was excellent. If acquired, it could be developed into a landmark commercial area, a very promising project.

Three years ago, it was his unfinished goal, and now she would complete it for him!

Katherine logged into her long-unused hacker system to check the real internal information about that piece of land.

As she was noting down the useful information, Katherine suddenly noticed an old friend she hadn't seen in a long time was online!

She clicked on the person's avatar and typed a few words: [Lion, long time no see.]

After a while, a reply came: [Do we know each other?]

Katherine was stunned and asked in surprise: [Aren't you Lion?]

The reply came: [Sorry. I had an accident three years ago and forgot a lot of things.]

Katherine found it quite strange: [Then how do you still remember your account password?]

Lion: [Muscle memory, I just typed it in and logged in.]

Katherine politely typed a line: [I see, every cloud has a silver lining. You're lucky, and forgetting some troubles isn't so bad!]

Lion didn't seem to think forgetting the past was a good thing; he wanted to know about his past: [Were we friends before?]

Katherine thought about it and felt that using the word "friends" to describe her relationship with Lion wasn't quite accurate.

Lion asked again: [So... have we met in person?]

Katherine answered truthfully: [Sort of. A few years ago, we attended the same hacker conference, both wearing masks.]

Lion: [Where was that hacker conference held? I attended it personally?]

Katherine found his question a bit odd: [ I guess so! I should have seen you in Celestia Haven because you remembered the topics we discussed online at that time.]

Lion was silent for a while; then his avatar showed "typing..."

Katherine waited for his response, but suddenly, her son's cries came from the bathroom. She immediately became anxious, quickly finished her note, closed her laptop, and rushed to the bathroom.

However, she didn't see the message Lion sent right after: [Which city are you in now? Can we meet? I want to know about my past.]

On the other end of the computer, Trevor looked at the last message in the chat box, his brows furrowing in regret.

At that moment, Sophia's footsteps came from outside the door.

Trevor exited the system and opened a regular news page.

Sophia walked in and called Trevor for dinner, "Trevor, stop reading those useless news articles! It's time to eat!"

Trevor nodded and calmly closed the news page.

Sophia didn't notice the deep, complex look that flashed across Trevor's face.

For the past three years, most of the information about himself in his mind had come from Sophia.

He used to trust her, but the online friend just mentioned that he had attended a hacker conference in Celestia Haven a few years ago.

Yet Sophia had told him he had lived in Markovia since childhood and this was his first time back in the country.

One of them must be lying.

The online friend didn't seem to know his true identity and had no reason to lie.

So, the one more likely to be lying was Sophia.

What was Sophia hiding from him?

Katherine rushed into the bathroom to see Julian wiping his eyes with his arm, crying.

Charles stood there, looking a bit confused.

Katherine didn't know what had happened and asked, "What's going on?"

Charles explained innocently, "Mommy, George didn't want to take off his clothes for a bath. I tried to help him, but he refused I tried to coax him by saying we could play with toys together in the bath, and then he suddenly started crying."

Katherine listened to Charles's explanation, squatted down, and asked Julian, "Tell Mommy, why don't you want to take a bath?"

George sniffled, stubborn and aggrieved, "I don't want to bathe with anyone else!"

Katherine frowned, "That's your brother, not someone else! Haven't you two always bathed and played with toys together? Why don't you want to bathe with him today?"

Julian looked at Charles, then at Katherine, and said, "He's not my brother. I don't have a brother."

Charles was stunned and lowered his head, looking hurt.

Hearing this, Katherine felt a bit angry, "George, what nonsense are you talking about?"
