Chapter 964 Only Care About Money

After watching these two videos, Jared had a pretty good idea of what was going on.

He turned to Cheryl, "Cheryl, what is going on?"

Even though he saw Cheryl entangled with Hudson, Jared's tone was still gentle, unlike the cold and harsh tone he used when calling Christina.

This was the difference. No matter what mistake Cheryl made, Jared would never really blame her or abandon her.

But Christina could be abandoned.

"Dad, Hudson is a boss in the film industry. My agent introduced him to me. I just wanted to try for a role. Nothing happened between us."

Cheryl looked at Jared with a face full of grievance, "Entering the entertainment industry was my own choice. I didn't want to trouble you to pull strings for me, so I had to rely on myself."

"Then what about this?" Christina took out a piece of paper with printed hotel registration records.

Luckily, Billy was there, otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to get these things.

"Why is it that you booked the room, but Hudson was the one who checked in?"

Faced with the evidence, Cheryl tried to explain but didn't know how to.

Seeing the hotel registration records, Jared finally got angry, "Cheryl, you really share a room with Hudson? How could you become like this? For the sake of becoming a star, you..."

"Dad, it's not like that. Nothing happened between me and that old man. I just booked the room for him and didn't go there," Cheryl reached out to grab Jared's hand, but he avoided her.

Cheryl turned her head and glared at Christina, "Christina, why are you slandering me? I've always treated you like my own sister. Why are you doing this to me?"

"Your own sister? If this is how you treat your own sister, then I'd rather not have one!" Christina sneered.

Seeing the situation getting more chaotic, Renee stepped in to ease the tension, "Christina, Cheryl is your elder sister after all. What are you trying to do with these things, deliberately stirring up trouble between your sister and your dad?"

Unexpectedly, even at this point, Renee still chose to side with Cheryl and put all the blame on Christina.

If Christina had any small expectations for her mother before, hoping to get some motherly love from her, those expectations completely disappeared at this moment.

From the moment Renee married Jared, she was just Jared's wife, just a good mother to Cheryl, never her mother.

"Dad, Mom, the evidence is here. I can't interfere with who you choose to believe. I won't say anything more. Besides, I'm getting married and will be moving out."

"What?"

Renee looked at her in shock, "Christina, what did you just say? Getting married?"

Now she finally started to notice Christina, but it was too late.

Christina stood up and walked to face the three of them, "Dad, Mom, I came back today not only to explain the situation but also to inform you that I'm getting married."

"Christina, marriage is a serious commitment! You should have discussed it with us beforehand. Making such a decision on your own feels very disrespectful to your parents," Cheryl didn't miss this opportunity to stir the pot.

Her words instantly ignited Jared and Renee's anger.

Renee stood up, took a few steps forward, and raised her hand to slap Christina, "Who agreed to your marriage? Who are you marrying? Did you ask for our opinion? Could it be that you are a homewrecker, destroying someone else's family to climb up?"

"Mom, I told you, I never was a homewrecker! Marriage is my own business. I have the freedom to marry, and I don't need anyone else's opinion!" Christina covered her stinging face and turned to look at Renee, her heart filled with cold disappointment.

All along, Renee, in order to please Jared, put all her attention on Cheryl, constantly flattering her while neglecting her own daughter Christina.

"Christina, who are you marrying?" Jared, who had been silent with a stern face, finally spoke up.

Christina turned to look at him, "You don't know him. After we get married, I'll find a time to introduce him to you."

"Christina, you don't really want to climb up by being a homewrecker and marry some old man, do you?" Cheryl pretended to look at her with concern, as if she were a good sister genuinely afraid that Christina would go astray, "He's definitely lying to you. He won't divorce and be with you. Christina, it's not too late to change your mind. Don't do something foolish!"

Cheryl's words reminded Renee, who grabbed Christina's hand, "Christina, I forbid you to find some old man and destroy someone else's family!"

"Mom, I've explained to you several times, I'm not the one entangled with an old man! If you don't remember, I can play the video for you again!" Christina really felt a bit tired.

Renee frowned, "Even so, Christina, you can't just get married casually! Let me ask you, how much dowry did he give you, and how much for the wedding banquet?"

It turned out that Renee didn't care about what kind of person her marriage partner was, only whether she had negotiated those conditions before agreeing to marry.

Christina lowered her head and smiled bitterly, "No dowry, no money at all."

"What?" Renee screamed, "How can that be? We've raised you for so many years, spent so much money, how can we just marry you off for nothing? No, I don't agree."

Cheryl stood aside, arms crossed. "Christina, what's going on? Did you marry a guy who can't even afford a proper wedding? Aren't you planning to have a ceremony?"

Christina didn't want to say more, just responded lightly, "No ceremony. I'm not getting married for appearances."

"No wedding? That's not acceptable. No one in the Russell family has ever been married secretly! Christina, you're too thoughtless!" Jared looked at her with disappointment, "I don't agree with this marriage!"

Christina sneered at him, "I said, I'm here to inform you about my marriage today. Not to seek your approval. It doesn't matter if you don't agree!"

"Christina, how can you talk to your father like that?" Before Jared could speak, Renee rushed over, "We've raised you for so many years, spent so much money, and you think we did it for nothing!"

In the end, all they cared about was money.
