Chapter 640 Go Back to Markovia
Frank strolled into the kitchen with the takeout, and Katherine shot Leander a look that screamed, "I don't care," before plopping down at the table, waiting for lunch.
Leander, looking a bit worried, whipped out his phone and texted Alex: [Mr. Melville, Mrs. Melville's having steak from a restaurant for lunch. Seems like no one here can cook.]
Over at the Melville Group, Alex was in a meeting, half-listening to some boring data on a PPT.
When his phone buzzed twice, Alex picked it up and checked the message.
A minute later, Leander got a short reply from Alex: [Did she drink the soup?]
Leander glanced at the untouched thermos and texted back: [Nope.]
After that, complete silence from Alex.
Leander could practically feel Alex's anger through the phone. He looked at Katherine munching on her steak, took a deep breath, and tried to convince her, "Mrs. Melville, since you're eating, how about I heat up the soup Mr. Melville made for you?"
Katherine didn't even look at him.
Leander walked over, grabbed the thermos, and headed to the kitchen. Frank stepped in his way and said, " No way I'm letting Katherine drink something sketchy!"
Leander, keeping it cool, said, "Mr. Perez, this is made by Mr. Melville. The ingredients are super fresh, not sketchy at all."
Frank sneered, "That makes it worse. Who knows if Mr. Melville would poison Katherine?"
Leander frowned, ignoring Frank's drama, and said to Katherine, "Mrs. Melville, you know Mr. Melville wouldn't poison you."
Katherine kept cutting her steak. "Frank, don't waste your time on him."
Frank shrugged, finally moved aside, and went back to his room to change.
A bit later, Frank came out looking puzzled and asked, "Katherine, did someone mess with my wardrobe?"
Katherine kept eating. "Yeah, I did."
Frank raised an eyebrow. "You rarely go into my room. Why'd you mess with my wardrobe today?"
Katherine said, "Jonathan came over this morning, and I accidentally got his clothes dirty, so I grabbed a set of yours for him to change into."
Frank acted all stingy. "Katherine, my clothes are pricey! How could you just give them away?"
Katherine rolled her eyes. "You can always buy more clothes!"
Frank smirked. "How'd you get Jonathan's clothes dirty?"
Katherine said, "I'm pregnant. What do you think I could do to him?"
Frank sighed, "Yeah, what a shame!"
Leander came out with a bowl of soup and gently placed it in front of Katherine. "Mrs. Melville, the soup's heated. Give it a try?"
Katherine glanced at the soup and kept munching on the steak.
After serving the soup, Leander had no choice but to step back to the door and stand there like a statue.
Frank sat down and sniffed the soup. "Mr. Melville's cooking skills suck; it doesn't even smell good!"
Katherine slowly finished her lunch, put down her knife and fork, and drank half a bowl of mushroom soup. The bowl of soup on her left? Still untouched.
Just when Leander had given up hope, Katherine suddenly picked up the bowl of soup.
'Even though Katherine's a bit of a diva, she still cares about Alex and can't just ignore the soup he made for her. She probably thinks it's too hot and wants to let it cool down before drinking. If Alex saw her drinking the soup, he'd be over the moon.' Thinking this, Leander secretly took out his phone to record Katherine drinking the soup in real-time for Alex.
Katherine blew on the soup to cool it down, then got up, walked to a corner of the living room, and poured the entire bowl of soup into the cat's bowl. The fat cat at home lazily trotted over to drink the soup.
Katherine even petted the cat's head affectionately. "Drink up! It's all yours!"
Leander had already sent this scene to Alex, and it was too late to take it back. He hurriedly checked his phone, only to find that the message had already been sent. Alex had received it.
Leander thought Alex would blow a fuse when he saw Katherine feeding his soup to the cat.
When Alex saw the message from Leander, his already serious expression turned downright terrifying.
The subordinate presenting the PPT thought he had messed up and started sweating bullets.
When Sophia arrived at the Melville Group, the meeting had just wrapped up.
Alex came out of the conference room with a face like thunder, and the employees instinctively avoided him, feeling that Alex was unusually scary today.
Sophia had just sat in the waiting area outside the office when she saw Alex return. She quickly stood up and walked over with a box. "Alex, you must be wiped from the meeting. I brought you some fruit to chill out."
Alex saw Sophia at his office door and seemed used to it. Without stopping, he opened the door and walked into the office, saying indifferently, "You don't need to bring these for me anymore."
Sophia followed him into the office. "It's no biggie. You know, I don't have many friends here, so I can only come to chat with you when I'm bored."
Alex sat down in his office chair and rubbed his temples. "If you're bored, you should go back to Markovia!"
Sophia pretended to be mad. "Do you really want me to go back to Markovia that badly?"
Alex glanced at her indifferently. "Your family and friends are all in Markovia. What's the point of staying here?"
