Chapter 960 You and Me
"Sorry, I don't know the person you're talking about. Are you sure you have the right person?" Christina said.
Billy didn't panic and took out two hundred dollars, handing it to Christina. "Mr. Mitchell said you would remember when you saw this."
"This is..." Christina looked at the crumpled two hundred dollars, and the events of the morning flashed through her mind. So, the Mr. Mitchell he mentioned was the man she slept with last night?
Bernard seemed to be someone important. If he sent someone to find her now, could it be to settle accounts?
Christina felt a bit scared and turned to see Cheryl's suspicious face.
If she argued with Billy now, last night's events would definitely be exposed.
Cheryl didn't benefit yesterday and would certainly not let her off, using this to harm her!
Rather than going back and having Cheryl tell her parents, it was better to see what Bernard wanted.
"Okay, I'll go with you."
Under Cheryl's puzzled gaze, Christina followed Billy into the car and quickly left.
Cheryl watched the luxury car drive away, feeling jealous but also confused. "How does Christina know someone who drives a luxury car?"
"Cheryl, was that Christina just now? I think I heard her voice!" Renee came out of the house, only seeing Cheryl standing at the door.
Cheryl snapped out of it, nodded, and said sarcastically, "Yes, she was here, but a man picked her up again."
"A man picked her up?" Renee looked worried. "What man picked her up? She didn't come home last night, and now she left again?"
Cheryl snorted and walked into the house. "What else could it be? Christina, a girl, didn't come home last night, she must have been fooling around with a man! I just saw her get into a luxury car with a married man. She's probably being a home wrecker for a rich man! Renee, why don't you keep an eye on Christina? Letting her do such shameless things!"
"What? Being a home wrecker? How could Christina..." Renee looked at her in disbelief, finding it hard to believe her daughter would do such a thing. "Impossible, Christina has never even dated. How could she..."
At this moment, Jared Russell also came downstairs and heard Renee's words. "What are you talking about? What happened to Christina?"
"Dad, Christina has become the mistress of a wealthy man. She probably won't come home anymore." Cheryl lied without a hint of guilt, feeling secretly pleased at the thought of Christina getting scolded when she returned.
Jared was usually busy with work and didn't ask much about family matters, but he valued the family reputation and hated such scandals.
"What? She's a homewrecker? For whom? How could she do such disgraceful things?" Jared said, glaring coldly at Renee.
Renee knew Jared was angry. She had little status at home and quickly aligned herself with him. "It's all my fault for not disciplining her properly! Jared, when Christina comes back, we must teach her a good lesson!"
Christina had no idea Cheryl was falsely accusing her at home. She followed Billy's car to a villa area and stopped in front of a villa. "Ms. Russell, Mr. Mitchell is waiting for you inside."
Standing in front of the villa, Christina began to feel nervous, not knowing what awaited her inside.
Christina walked up and rang the doorbell.
The door opened from the inside, and Bernard, dressed in black casual clothes, stood at the door.
"Your subordinate said you... you were looking for me?"
Bernard didn't speak, turned coldly, and walked inside. Christina had no choice but to follow.
The interior of the house was very simple but looked extremely expensive, far beyond the Russell family's means.
Christina stood in the living room, keeping a distance between them. "Why did you call me here?"
"Sit." Bernard took out a folder and placed it on the table. "If there's anything you're not satisfied with, there's still time to change it."
Christina, full of confusion, picked up the folder. The first line of the first page left her stunned. "Marriage agreement? What does this mean? Who's getting married?"
"You and me." Bernard took a sip of coffee, not finding his words absurd at all.
Christina skimmed through the agreement. It basically stated she would marry Bernard and maintain the marriage for a year, receiving a million dollars annually in return.
'Is this a form of keeping? This man really thinks I'll sell myself for money!'
"Sorry, when did I agree to marry you?" Christina found the agreement a huge joke. She closed the folder and put it back on the table. "I'm not interested in anything written here. If there's nothing else, I'll leave now!"
As she finished speaking, Christina stood up to leave.
At that moment, her phone rang. It was her mother, Renee.
Bernard just coldly watched Christina leave, not stopping her or saying anything. After all, if it weren't for trying to deal with Hellen and Vincent, he would never consider marrying a woman like Christina.
This morning, after Christina left the hotel, Hellen's call urging marriage came in, scolding him again.
They were getting old and increasingly worried about his marriage, arranging blind dates for him, hoping he would marry soon.
Initially, Hellen would ask Bernard's opinion before arranging dates. Now, she just called to inform him of the time and place, ignoring his personal opinion.
"Grandma, I've said I don't want to get married for now."
Bernard's words made Hellen's face darken. "Are you trying to break our hearts? We're old, and our biggest wish is to see you all settled down. Otherwise, we won't rest in peace."
Every time Bernard said he didn't want to get married, Hellen would threaten him with death.
"Bernard, be honest with me. Do you not like women?"
Bernard's calm face finally showed a change but quickly returned to calm. "No, I already have a fiancée. I'll bring her to meet you in a few days."
"You already have a fiancée? Really?" Hellen clearly didn't believe him.
Bernard looked at the two hundred dollars on the floor, thinking of a compromise. "Yes, Grandma, you'll see her soon."
