Chapter 836 Laura Was Still Alive
"Linda, go ahead and check out the guest rooms. Pick one to stay in! This is my friend's house. Even though they're not living here right now, we shouldn't mess with their things. We'll share one room."
Linda nodded obediently and asked, "Mom, what about my books and homework? They're still at the hotel!"
Nora sighed again, "I'll figure out a way to get them in a few days."
"Okay!"
After responding, Linda obediently went to check the rooms.
After Linda left, Nora sat quietly on the sofa, contemplating her marriage with Brent. Suddenly, she remembered the person who had saved her that day!
That girl named Katherine was really special. No wonder Trevor didn't fall for Sophia even after losing his memory.
Sophia was too selfish and couldn't compare to Katherine.
Moreover, she felt that Katherine looked a bit like Claire.
Nora's thoughts were interrupted by the ringing of her phone. She snapped back to reality and took out her phone. It was Claire, whom she had just been thinking about.
Answering the call, Claire's anxious voice came through, "Nora, where are you? Brent can't find you and called me!"
Nora had already guessed that Claire's call at this time was because of Brent. She didn't want to talk about that man now, "I'm fine, staying at a friend's house. Don't worry, Claire, and don't tell him."
Hearing that Nora was safe, Claire breathed a sigh of relief, "What happened? Did you two have another fight? We were just talking on the phone, and everything seemed fine. Why did you leave with Linda?"
Nora said, "Let's not talk about Brent right now. Just thinking about him makes me angry."
"Alright then! It's good for you to take Linda out for some peace, but make sure to stay safe, okay?"
Nora nodded, "Don't worry, Claire! Even if I didn't care about my own safety, I would never neglect Linda's. We'll be fine."
"Okay, call me if you need anything!"
"I will."
Just as Claire was about to hang up, Nora suddenly said, "Wait, Claire! There's something I want to ask you!"
Claire patiently responded, "Sure, what is it?"
Nora furrowed her brow, "Claire, about your daughter Laura, are you sure she's really gone?"
There was a long silence on the other end of the line, "Of course I'm sure. If Laura were still alive, why would I say she's dead?"
"But today I saw a girl who looked a lot like you, and she's about the same age as Laura would be."
"What? That's impossible. Maybe it's just a coincidence."
"Her name is Katherine Galatea. Next time, I'll send you a photo of her. Maybe I'm just overthinking it."
A long limousine pulled up in front of the Melville Manor.
Katherine got out first, then turned to help her three children out one by one.
Fiona also got out of the car.
They said their goodbyes to the people in the car and led the children inside.
The limousine didn't drive away immediately. It stayed parked in front of the Melville Manor for a long time, until Katherine's figure disappeared from their sight.
Teresa sighed deeply, breaking the silence first, "Katherine must be feeling really confused right now. She's been waiting for Alex, but he doesn't remember her at all."
Frank put his arm around her waist, pulling her closer, "Not necessarily. I think Katherine isn't too concerned about Mr. Melville's memory loss. She probably cares more about his safety. As long as he's alive, that's what matters."
Teresa said, "Of course, Katherine cares most about Alex's safety, but she must also feel hurt that Alex forgot her so easily!"
Sunny crossed his arms and said, "You two should stop worrying. Don't you have a wedding to prepare for? Focus on that! Bernard and I will figure out a way to get Alex back to Katherine safely!"
Although he meant well, Frank and Teresa gave him skeptical looks.
Bernard was reliable, but Sunny wasn't. If he got involved, things might go wrong.
Sunny was annoyed by their obvious lack of trust, "What kind of looks are those? Don't you believe in my abilities?"
Frank and Teresa both turned their heads to look out the window.
Bernard, who had been silent, finally spoke, "Where are you all going?"
Frank turned back and politely said, "Mr. Mitchell, could you please take us to the bridal shop in the city center? Thank you."
Teresa blushed and remained silent.
Ambrosia said, "I'm going home."
Sunny didn't say anything, but he intended to go home with Ambrosia. He just didn't dare to say it out loud.
Bernard slightly nodded to the driver, signaling him to take them to their respective destinations.
Since the Melville Manor was in the city center, the car first dropped Frank and Teresa off at the bridal shop.
Then, it took Ambrosia to her apartment building.
Ambrosia politely nodded to Bernard in thanks and got out of the car alone.
Sunny quietly followed her.
"Where are you going?"
Bernard's voice made Sunny freeze. He turned back with a forced smile, "Bernard, I'm just going to hang out at Ambrosia's place for a bit. I'll go home later."
Clearly, this reason didn't convince Bernard, "You're coming home with me!"
Sunny frowned, "Bernard, you know Ambrosia and I are in a relationship! What's wrong with me going up to her place? Just because you're single doesn't mean you can stop me from spending time with my girlfriend!"
Bernard's face instantly turned serious, "What did you say?"
"Nothing, nothing!" Sunny quickly said and then jumped out of the car, running after Ambrosia.
The driver turned around and asked, "Mr. Bernard Mitchell, should I go get Mr. Sunny Mitchell back?"
Bernard rubbed his temples with a grim expression, "Leave him be, let's go."
"Yes, sir!"
Ambrosia had just entered the elevator when the doors automatically closed.
Suddenly, a pair of hands pried the doors open, and Sunny squeezed in, grinning at her.
Ambrosia was taken aback, "Did Bernard let you out of the car?"
Sunny shrugged, "No! I escaped!"
Ambrosia adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses and asked knowingly, "Why did you escape instead of going home?"
