Chapter 328 Can't Stand Seeing Her Bullied
"Move!"
The deep voice boomed louder.
The sleazy guy finally pinpointed the source and saw a tall, handsome man towering over him. Feeling a bit intimidated, he coughed and muttered, "What's it to you?"
Bernard's elegant face showed no anger. He calmly looked down at the sleazy guy and said coldly, "Stay away from her."
Even though he was calm, the chill in his voice made everyone's spine tingle.
People in the elevator turned their eyes towards them, clearly interested in the unfolding drama.
The creep was actually a bit scared because the other guy seemed important and intimidating. But with so many eyes on him, his ego wouldn't let him back down easily. So he stubbornly snapped, "Who are you to her? Why should I listen to you?"
Bernard's expression didn't change. "You don't need to know that. Just move away from her now."
The sleazy guy found it strange. Do they know each other or something? If so, why weren't they together earlier?
They can't know each other!
He glanced at Katherine, who was squeezed into the corner, thought for a moment, and then grinned. "Hey man, there's a first-come, first-served rule for hitting on someone, you know? I spotted her first. You're too late, better luck next time!"
Bernard didn't say anything; he just narrowed his eyes.
"Ah!"
A sudden scream and the sleazy guy was in excruciating pain.
Bernard had grabbed the sleazy guy's wrist, pulled him away from Katherine, and twisted it hard!
The creep's arm was twisted behind his back, causing him a lot of pain. He finally gave in. "Ouch! It hurts so much. Hey man, let's talk this out! Let me go, and I'll leave the girl to you, okay?"
Bernard restrained the sleazy guy's arm but didn't bother to look at him. He glanced at the girl squeezed in the corner and calmly ordered, "Come over here."
Katherine blinked and then moved through the gaps between people to stand obediently next to Bernard.
Although she and Bernard didn't get along, they were both decent people with morals, which was better than standing next to that sleazy guy!
Also, this hotel's elevator was really slow. Why hadn't it reached the first floor yet?
Bernard then gently moved Katherine behind him with his other arm before releasing the sleazy guy.
The creep, now free, rubbed his twisted arm and muttered resentfully, "Hey man, you really went so far for a stranger! She’s just a girl. If I can't hit on her, go ahead. Why get physical?"
Bernard glared down at the jerk. Women would despise him, and he thought this trash didn’t respect women’s wishes. He’s not even a real man!
The elevator door finally opened with a 'ding.'
The onlookers, realizing the show was over, quietly exited the elevator.
The sleazy guy also prepared to leave but, feeling humiliated, glared at Katherine and spat, "You're nothing but trouble! I wouldn't want a cheap woman like you, even for free!"
He then tried to stride out of the elevator.
But he didn't make it. His other arm was coldly grabbed and twisted, almost dislocating on the spot!
The sleazy guy was in so much pain that tears streamed down his face. "Ouch! Sir, my arm is going to break. What are you doing? Let me go! Didn't I already leave the pretty lady to you? Why are you still holding onto me?"
Bernard's tone was flat. "What did you just say?"
The sleazy guy, feeling guilty, rolled his eyes. "I... I didn't say anything about you."
Bernard didn't respond, just increased the pressure on the injured arm.
The sleazy guy howled in pain, unable to bear it, and repeatedly begged for mercy. "I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have said that... I shouldn’t have disrespected her. I deserve it... I’m such a jerk. I’m the worst."
Bernard threw the sleazy guy onto the elevator floor, lightly stepped on his arm, and with a crack, it broke.
Then, looking down at the trash beneath him, he coldly said, "Hitting on someone should be a polite act based on mutual respect. What you did was harassment!"
With that, he disdainfully shook his hand and stepped out of the elevator.
Billy naturally followed Bernard.
Katherine also followed Billy, naturally stepping over the sleazy guy's now-broken arm as she exited the elevator.
The sleazy guy was left alone in the elevator, struggling to get up, holding his useless arm, tears streaming down his face, all his previous arrogance gone, looking utterly miserable!
Outside the hotel lobby, Katherine caught up and politely said, "Thank you, Mr. Mitchell, for helping me out just now."
Bernard coldly glanced at her. "Katherine, don't overthink it. I just can't stand people acting like perverts in public."
Katherine wasn't surprised and nodded lightly. "I understand, Mr. Mitchell. You didn't do it for me, but I still benefited from it, so I should thank you."
Actually, if Bernard hadn't stepped in, she would have beaten that sleazy pervert herself once the elevator doors opened!
But she still had to express her gratitude since he did help her.
Setting a good example for the baby in her belly, she needed to be polite.
Bernard scrutinized her. "What are you really doing in K City?"
Katherine couldn't tell the truth that she was here for a hacker forum. She smiled and half-truthfully replied, "My friend is hospitalized in Kryptonix City. I'm going to visit that friend now. Mr. Mitchell, I'm in a hurry, so I'll be off. Bye!"
Watching Katherine quickly run off and get into a taxi, Bernard narrowed his eyes, still suspicious.
Hopefully, she was really here to visit a friend and had no other motives!
After Katherine's taxi drove off, Billy approached with concern. "Mr. Mitchell, you used a lot of force on that thug just now. Is your arm okay?"
Bernard's arm had a fracture from a previous fight with Alex, and it hadn't fully healed. He had only temporarily removed the cast for today's important project inspection.
Bernard had just used that arm to deal with the thug. Hopefully, it didn't worsen the injury.
"It's fine," Bernard replied indifferently, not taking it seriously, but as he moved his arm, his handsome brow furrowed in pain.
It hurt. It really did.
He didn't understand why he intervened for Katherine!
But strangely, it felt like an instinct not to let her be bullied.
