Chapter 89 Don't Act Like a Jealous Little Man

Katherine continued, "Alex, you never really trusted me. You had Leander arrange a job for me to keep me in a place you could control so you could always know what I am doing and whether I am cheating, right?"

Alex's dark and deep eyes stared at her, not defending himself for the moment.

"Alex, I'm just a passerby in your glorious life, only here for three months. So, please don't try to control me. If you don't trust me, I can swear to God!" she then added.

At this point, Katherine raised her hand with a determined look and said, "I, Katherine, swear to God that in the remaining two months and seven days. I will absolutely not cheat and tarnish Mr. Melville's reputation. If I break this oath, I am bound to face punishment."

After making her vow resolutely, Katherine lowered her hand and turned gracefully towards the stairwell door.

But just as her hand touched the doorknob and she had barely opened a crack, the door was suddenly pushed shut tightly by Alex's hand from behind.

"Did I give you permission to leave?" Alex remarked.

The door wouldn't budge. Katherine frowned. She had already sworn an oath; what more did Alex want?

She snapped, "Alex, enough is enough! Don't act like a jealous man!"

Jealous man?

Alex's brow furrowed coldly as if he had heard something both absurd and laughable. He then leaned in close to her ear and chuckled softly. "Jealous? Ms. Galatea, do you think I would be jealous of you? In my eyes, you're just a child."

"But in my eyes, you're a man!" Katherine shouted irritably.

As soon as the words left her mouth, she realized they were inappropriate and wanted to take them back.

But once words were spoken, they were irreversible. How could Katherine take them back now?

She pulled hard on the door, trying to escape, but Alex held the metal door of the stairwell firmly, making it impossible to open.

Katherine felt Alex's warm breath behind her ear. His deep voice was so close that it almost brushed her earlobe. "What did you just say?"

"I didn't say anything!" she answered quickly.

Katherine just wanted to leave the stairwell quickly, but she still couldn't open the door. Alex gripped her shoulders, and she was forcibly turned around to face him.

At this moment, Katherine's face was flushed with shame from her quick and mistaken words, her eyes flickering, unable to meet the man's gaze.

Alex's deep eyes focused on Katherine's flushed face, her long and thick eyelashes trembling, and her cheeks like blooming flowers.

No wonder men always had ulterior motives towards Katherine; she was indeed very captivating.

She had just said there were two months and seven days left. She remembered it so clearly. She must have been counting the days.

But since when did his emotions become so easily influenced by Katherine?

Alex couldn't stand seeing her interact with other men, felt uneasy when she was close to them, and even became irritable and restless.

She said he wanted to control her. If he just wanted to maintain a woman, he wouldn't need to keep her anywhere because no matter where she was, he could always know everything if he wanted to.

He arranged a job for her because he knew she couldn't stay idle. Rather than letting Katherine be tormented by others outside, it was better to keep her under his watch so that at least she wouldn't suffer.

But Katherine didn't appreciate it at all.

Alex's eyes darkened. Thinking about how  Katherine could be with other men, getting close and intimate in two months and seven days, and he would have no right to intervene, he couldn't accept it.

Katherine was pinned against the door by the man, unable to break free. She was both embarrassed and angry. After waiting for a long time without Alex saying anything, she grew impatient and frowned, pouting, "Alex, if you have something to say, just say it. Can you let go of me first? If you have nothing to say, then I want to leave..."

Suddenly, Alex leaned in, and Katherine's lips were seized and invaded...

Katherine's mind went blank. She widened her eyes to confirm if what was happening was real.

Alex's handsome face was right in front of her, aggressively and fervently devouring her.

What was this?

As Katherine came to her senses, she felt a surge of anger at being violated. She raised her hands and pushed hard against Alex's chest. Not only did she fail to push him away, but Alex also wrapped his arm around her waist, held the back of her head, and kissed her even deeper.

Alex's masculine pheromones overwhelmed her.

Gradually, Katherine started to lose her composure. Her small hands clutched at his suit jacket, responding awkwardly.

After what felt like an eternity, they finally separated, staring at each other, slightly panting, their breaths mingling.

Alex looked at Katherine, who appeared as startled as a frightened deer, feeling her both pitiable and amusing.

A slight smile played on his lips as he ruffled her hair, his hand still on the back of her head, commanding with a gentle authority, "You are not allowed to call other men."

Katherine's face was flushed, and she couldn't tell if it was from anger or embarrassment. She stepped back to avoid his touch, raised her arm to wipe her mouth, and replied with resentment, "I got it. You don't need to warn me like this."

"Even after three months, you are not allowed to call them," Alex added, his tone inexplicably gentle.

Katherine's heart skipped a beat. She looked at him in astonishment and asked, "Why?"

Alex leaned in closer to the woman with a blushing face, and once again, he bent down and whispered, "Because..."

At that moment, Leander's stern voice suddenly came from outside the stairwell door. "Ms. Galatea, you can't go in there!"

Immediately after, Sherry's voice followed. "Are you standing here because Mr. Melville is in this stairwell? The food has already been served. Why hasn't Mr. Melville come back to eat? What's he doing in the stairwell? The food will get cold."

Leander replied, "Ms. Galatea, please go back. Mr. Melville will return to eat shortly."

But Sherry was insistent. "What is Mr. Melville doing in the stairwell? Don't block me; let me in to see him!"

"Sorry, Mr. Melville doesn't want to see you right now," he then added.

"How do you know Mr. Melville doesn't want to see me? Can you, a mere assistant, speak for Mr. Melville? If he didn't want to see me, would he have agreed to have lunch with me? Move aside, I want to see Mr. Melville!" she said sarcastically.

"Ms. Galatea, please..." Leander persuaded.

Hearing the commotion outside, Sherry seemed suspicious and was about to force her way in to find out what was going on.

Katherine realized the situation was bad. Instinctively, she wanted to run downstairs to avoid being caught by Sherry, or it would be hard to explain.

But just as she took a step, Alex grabbed her wrist.

"Where are you going?" he asked.

Katherine turned back helplessly, frowning and glaring at Alex, stating, "Alex, don't forget you promised me that my sister wouldn't find out about our relationship."

Alex didn't let go of her, and Sherry was already pushing the stairwell door open.
