Chapter 1011 I'm Always by Your Side
Rachel was fuming. "You're talking crap! Even if you badmouth Robbie, I'm not gonna like you. I've been a fan of the NOZ team for two years, and I know Robbie's character better than you!" She grabbed her bag and shot up. "Natalie, let's bounce."
"You still don't get it. You've liked NOZ for two years, but I've known Robbie for five. He's got a bad rep. We're just worried you'll get played." The guy with blonde hair looked serious.
Natalie got up and followed Rachel out. She wasn't a fan of the smoky air either.
Just then, a slightly tipsy, raspy voice called out, "How about we make a bet?"
Rachel turned around, eyeing Bobby warily.
Bobby flicked his cigarette ash. "In the city race in mid-June, if I lose, you can make any request, and I'll agree. But if I win, I get to make any request, and you have to agree."
Natalie thought it was a trap. She tugged at Rachel, trying to talk her out of it.
But Rachel was on a roll. "If I make you wear a sign that says 'I'm a loser, I'm not as good as Robbie' and walk around the NOZ team studio. I defy you to agree."
Before Bobby could answer, a few of his teammates chimed in.
"That's too much. It's basically an insult to the THT team."
"Bobby, let it go. Don't fall for this girl's trap."
"Bobby, there are plenty of beautiful women out there. If you can't get this one, you'll find another. Don't get stuck on just one."
Rachel smirked. "Scared? Coward."
Bobby still had a grin on his face. "If I win, you have to be my girlfriend for a month."
Natalie tugged at Rachel's arm. "Rachel, don't be thick."
But Rachel agreed right away. "Deal!"
Natalie sighed, looking at Bobby with pursed lips.
Later, they went back to Bayview Villa.
Natalie told Adrian about what happened that evening, worried Rachel might get tricked.
Adrian wrapped his arm around her waist. "She's been sharp since she was a kid. Don't worry, I'll have someone keep an eye on her."
Natalie lay on Adrian's chest. "I didn't know she is so into racing."
"She loves it. Joe knows too, but she hides it from Claire. Claire always thinks racing is too dangerous." Adrian chuckled. "That Maserati of hers was a birthday gift from me, and she had it modified."
"You're actually pretty nice to her." Natalie leaned on Adrian's chest, thinking of her own brother, Ryan, who had been really good to her too.
"I had a brother too," Natalie said softly.
Adrian knew about her family situation, that Stanley and Ryan had passed away early in a car accident. Afraid she would recall painful memories, Adrian held her hand and kissed it.
He was wearing a gray loungewear set, sitting on the sofa, with Natalie lying on his lap. She looked at him. "I'm fine. I just thought of my brother. You haven't met my dad and brother yet, right? Tomorrow, I'll take you to see them."
"Okay." Adrian held her hand tightly. "From now on, I'll be by your side no matter what."
This was the first time Natalie and Adrian shared a bed as a marred couple.
