Chapter 377 Invisible Guilt

She said, "Thanks."

The waiter felt a bit flattered. "You're too kind, miss."

Natalie changed into a pale yellow dress with hand-embroidered butterflies and lace trim. She admired herself in the mirror, spinning around as the butterflies seemed to flutter. Despite the dress's elegance, it didn't look too formal.

Her phone buzzed in her bag.

Natalie checked it and saw 20% battery left. She answered, "Hello."

"Awake?" Adrian's deep, sexy voice came through.

"Yeah, just woke up," Natalie replied.

"Have you eaten?" he asked.

"Not yet, about to," she said.

"Did you put on the clothes I sent?"

"Yeah, thanks, they look great," she said after a pause.

"Do you like them?"

"I do." she nodded.

"Send me a picture if you like them."

"Okay." Natalie took a quick photo.

She tried to send it to Adrian on WhatsApp but realized she didn't have his account. As she considered texting him the photo, her hand slipped, and she accidentally sent it to someone else.

Panicking, she quickly opened WhatsApp to retract the photo.

"Did I just send it to Samuel? Oh my God!" she thought.

She retracted the photo and sighed in relief, then messaged Adrian: [Mr. Howard, I don't have your WhatsApp account.]

He replied: [Call me Adrian from now on.]

Natalie whispered, "Adrian."

He sent his WhatsApp info, and she added him. His profile picture was of Lucky, and his name was a string of odd letters.

She sent the photo to Adrian.

Her phone buzzed again, but it was from Samuel: [Very beautiful.]

Natalie gasped. How did he see it? She thought she retracted it in time. So embarrassing!

A few minutes later, she replied to Samuel: [Sorry, I meant to send that to another friend. My bad.]

Samuel responded: [The dress is beautiful, and so are you. This color suits you.]

He was straightforward.

Natalie replied: [Thanks, Mr. Russell.]

She ate a bit and then left the Four Seasons Pearl Hotel, heading home. Rosalie was knitting a scarf on the couch. She didn't ask where Natalie had been, knowing she often worked late. "You're back. Had breakfast? There are some ravioli in the pot."

"I've eaten, Mom. Did you take your medicine?"

"Yes, I took it early." Rosalie smiled. "I bought some yarn. Which color do you like? How about this light blue? It's getting colder."

"They all look nice," Natalie said.

Rosalie noticed Natalie's dress. "When did you get this dress? It's beautiful. You should dress up more often. Bright colors suit you. Don't worry about the money, buy a few more pretty dresses."

"Okay, I'll dress up more," Natalie said, sitting next to Rosalie and leaning on her shoulder. "Mom, as long as you're healthy, that's all that matters to me. It's my biggest wish."

Rosalie sighed, stroking Natalie's hair. "I hope you stay healthy and happy too." She felt guilty, knowing Natalie carried a lot of pressure. She had watched Natalie grow up, and her wrinkled eyes held a guilt Natalie couldn't see.
