Chapter 546 Mr. King
The dude who strolled over was the same guy chatting with Yancy earlier that afternoon.
He didn't really remember Heather's face, but he definitely remembered her figure. "Didn't Yancy hit you up? He's probably at the Main Street Harmony Winery now. Heard Frank's there and bolted over as soon as he got the scoop."
The bar's music was blaring.
Heather caught something about Main Street Harmony Winery. She jumped up, ready to bounce, but then realized she didn't have Yancy's digits. She quickly asked the guy in front of her for Yancy's number.
The guy grumbled to himself, "Yancy, I gave her your number. Don't screw this up; that's all I can do for you."
Main Street was this well-known strip behind the middle schools, packed with everything in need. It had a decent-sized supermarket, a food and veggie section, and all kinds of restaurants lining both sides.
There were big joints and small dives.
Right then, in a private room at the Harmony Restaurant.
A dude, all bruised and battered, was on his knees. "I messed up, Mr. King. Just give me a bit more time, one more day! Two days tops, and I'll get the cash! I'll pay you back, I swear!"
The guy sitting across from Frank was Kent King, in his early forties, puffing on a smoke. "Two days, Frank? You've been dodging me for a week now. You think this is a game of hide and seek?" He cursed and kicked Frank.
Frank was shaking like a leaf. "Mr. King, I already called my cousin. She'll wire the money soon. Just give me two days, and I'll pay you back!"
Kent flicked his cigarette ash, and it landed on Frank's neck, burning him. Frank shuddered but didn't dare move, gritting his teeth through the pain. His face was drenched in sweat, which trickled into his wounds, making it even worse. "Mr. King, please, just one more chance. I'll have the money soon."
"You think I'm an idiot? You don't even have a cousin. If I let you go, you'll just run and hide again, and I'll have to waste time tracking you down." Kent waved his hand.
Two goons came over and started beating Frank.
At first, Frank screamed, but he eventually blacked out from the beating.
One of the goons dumped a jug of water over him, and Frank's eyes snapped open.
He felt like Kent was gonna kill him.
Another goon searched him and found three cards, a phone, and a watch. The cards had like three bucks on them, the watch was a knockoff, and only the phone had any value. Borrowing money from Kent meant paying it back with interest. If he couldn't pay, he'd lose a finger, and for over $100,000, he'd lose a leg.
Kent said, "Put his leg on the chair."
The goons grabbed Frank. Frank seemed to know what was coming and started shouting, "Mr. King, I'll pay you back right now. Please, spare me! Mr. King! I'll do anything you want!"
