Chapter 1397 Melissa's Warning
Natalie had been with Adrian several times without taking any precautions, yet she never got pregnant.
Maybe it was karma.
She had an abortion.
So, God was punishing her.
Not letting her have another child.
Natalie opened the chessboard and started playing by herself.
Her phone buzzed.
It was Adrian calling, asking where she was.
Natalie said she was in the chess room.
She heard footsteps nearby.
Thinking it was Adrian coming to find her, she looked up, but it was Melissa.
She sat up straight, "Hey, Aunt."
Melissa sat across from her. Melissa was also good at chess. She picked up a white piece and made a move. Natalie followed.
Melissa said, "Natalie, you've been married into the Howard family for over a year and a half now."
Natalie nodded.
"Rachel disappeared, Ruben's health is deteriorating, he often struggles to breathe and needs oxygen. Ruben has heart and bronchial problems. Natalie, you can't just think about yourself. You need to consider the family, get your health in order, and have a child to bring some new changes to the family."
Melissa's words were clear.
Natalie nodded, "I understand, Aunt."
"Natalie, to be honest, I don't like you." Melissa's tone was flat, like a calm lake without ripples. "Daniel is my only son, and I won't let you get close to him. But he can't forget you, and you are already married. Natalie, you are Adrian's wife. I hope you will stick to your role and not get involved with Daniel. Daniel has his own path to follow; he will marry and have children in the future. I don't want to see him being held back by you."
Natalie was taken aback; she hadn't expected this.
She looked at Melissa.
Melissa didn't seem to be joking; she was serious.
Natalie couldn't believe Melissa would come to her with this.
No wonder Melissa had been giving her strange looks lately.
So this was the reason.
She didn't understand why Melissa suddenly brought this up. She said, "Aunt, don't worry. Daniel and I are just ordinary friends."
"Let's hope so," Melissa replied, looking at the chessboard.
She realized she had already lost.
She put down her pieces and stood up, "Natalie, family matters should stay within the family. Whatever happened between you and Daniel in the past, whether you liked each other or not, it's not honorable. Daniel and you should have no relationship in the future." She didn't want a woman to affect Daniel's life.
Natalie understood. She watched Melissa's back as she left, "I understand."
This family dinner was missing two people.
One was Jamie.
The other was Daniel.
Since Rachel's disappearance, Jamie hadn't come around.
Only Andrea would visit.
And Daniel didn't come tonight either.
Ruben asked, "Where's Daniel?"
Quincy glanced at Melissa and said, "He has a girlfriend now. Tonight is her birthday, and he's at her party."
Ruben smiled, "He has a girlfriend? That's good. They should spend more time together. Maybe I'll get to attend his wedding."
