Chapter 838 An Extraordinary Person
This kid was Carlos's. But Alice decided to keep it for now because it was her ticket into the Howard family, her last shot.
Who would've thought it was still too late?
Alice was really going through it this time. The pain was unbearable. Lying in bed, she looked at Claire with a fragile, pitiful expression. "It's my fault. I failed to keep the baby."
Claire was upset, too but told Alice not to cry and to take care of herself.
But words like "the most important thing is to take care of yourself and there will be children in the future," Claire just couldn't bring herself to say.
After hanging out in the ward for a bit, Claire headed back with Melissa.
In the car.
Claire was fiddling with the bracelet on her wrist.
Melissa sighed deeply, "Claire, what's your plan for Alice?"
Claire, a devout servant to her God, started wondering if Alice's fate just didn't mesh with the Howard family, leading to these back-to-back miscarriages. The first one left her with a broken bone and a hospital stay, and the second one led to the removal of Alice's uterus. Without a uterus, Alice could never have kids for Adrian again, and the Howard family would have no use for such a woman.
Claire replied, "Let's head back first. Ruben shouldn't be napping right now. Let's go see him."
On her way back, Claire clasped her hands, muttering some Biblical words, as if she was praying but all the effort to calm herself down seemed to go in vain.
At Blue Moon Lake Estate.
In the dining room.
The servant brought out the dishes, authentic Mexican-style grilled steak, medium rare, just how Lauchelle liked it.
Lauchelle smiled at Rebecca sitting across from her. "Your dinner party is still three days away, and everything here is ready for you. Your friends can come over anytime to check it out, but be careful not to damage anything."
Rebecca smiled. "Of course, I know."
Rebecca had worked with Lauchelle many times. This place was great. She was solely tempted to buy it, even though it was pricey. As the eldest daughter of the Henderson family, she could afford it. Lauchelle refused all her offers, even double the market price.
Lauchelle smiled. "I know, Ms. Henderson, but I hope you don't damage anything here because I'm afraid the next owner won't be happy. I've already sold this estate, and the next owner has agreed to rent it to you for the socialite dinner party."
Rebecca was a bit surprised that Lauchelle had sold the place and wondered who was so lucky.
In all of Vachilit, she couldn't think of anyone who could also afford this place because Lauchelle had said he wouldn't sell to the powerful, only to someone he liked.
But, besides the powerful, who could afford to spend billions of dollars on an estate?
Lauchelle smiled. "Don't worry. The next owner should be a very easy-going lady. She should also come to the socialite dinner party, and I'll introduce her to you then."
Rebecca smiled. She was naturally eager to meet the new owner.
Making more friends was always a good thing, especially such capable ones.
Anyone who could earn Lauchelle's admiration must be extraordinary.
On the fourth day after Christmas, Natalie was already back to work.
She had two photoshoots in the morning and an endorsement ad shoot in the afternoon.
