Chapter 343 The Wristwatch
"Natalie, I've got some money—about $200,000. It's enough for us to live on," Rosalie said, handing Natalie a bank card.
Natalie stared at the card, recognizing it. The money was a settlement for the deaths of Stanley and Ryan. Even when Rosalie was seriously ill, she never touched it. Why now?
"Mom, did something happen?" Natalie asked, worried. "Did Curtis and Avery threaten you?"
Rosalie shook her head. "No, they didn't. I just want to leave here. Remember you said you wanted to leave Vachilit with me?"
"Mom, my job's stable now. I make enough to support us, and I'll graduate next year. Leaving Vachilit now would mess things up. I want to leave too, but we need to be practical."
That night, Natalie couldn't shake the feeling something was off with Rosalie. She got up, wondering if Curtis or Avery had threatened her mom. The Cullen family was relentless!
She and Rosalie had backed down so many times, yet they still wanted them out of Vachilit. Was Avery that scared of Alice's secret getting out?
Alice was pregnant and would soon be Adrian's wife. Natalie had promised to keep quiet. Why threaten Rosalie now? Avery even went to Imperial Nightclub to get her fired!
Natalie found it laughable. Was she such a threat to Avery and Alice? Did they really need to go this far?
Initially, Natalie planned to save up and leave with Rosalie for a peaceful city. But now, she wanted to stay and make Alice and Avery pay for everything.
If they left her and Rosalie alone, she'd keep their secret. But if they hurt them again, she'd fight back. She held the key to their downfall.
Unable to sleep, Natalie opened a drawer, found Kevin's business card, and added him on WhatsApp. She decided to seize the opportunity with Kevin.
The next morning, Natalie showered and put her clothes in the washing machine. She found a man's wristwatch in her pocket—Adrian's. When did he put it there?
She put the watch away and went to the kitchen, finding a note from Rosalie.
[Natalie, I left some ravioli for you in the pot. Remember to eat them when you wake up. I went out.]
Natalie frowned. Rosalie had been going out a lot in the mornings. She checked the fridge, which was stocked for days, and called Rosalie.
Rosalie answered, "Natalie, you're awake."
"Hey, Mom, where did you go?"
"I went to the farmers' market on Sparrow Lane. The vegetables are cheap, and the meat is fresh."
Rosalie, carrying a pot of soup, arrived at a tall building with "Dynamic Entertainment" on it. She looked up, feeling a bit awestruck, and walked in.
