Chapter 799 This Child Came at the Worst Time
Natalie glanced at Bella, her mind racing. 'Pregnant? Is it Austin's kid? This is bad news. Especially now, with the Reynolds Group in Cassidy's hands and Austin in a coma. Bella being pregnant right now just makes it harder for her to get away from the Reynolds family.'
Natalie frowned a bit. "Bella, who else knows about this?"
Bella sighed. "Just you. I found out a couple of days ago. My period hasn't come for two months, and I've been feeling listless and nauseous. I thought it was just from taking care of Austin around the clock since he went into a coma, so I didn't think much of it. But I went to the hospital yesterday morning, and surprise, I'm six weeks pregnant."
This baby was a total curveball, and Bella was at a loss.
Bella continued, "I definitely want to keep this baby. In a few months, it'll be impossible to hide. I'm scared Cassidy will try something to hurt the baby. She's got a tight grip on the Reynolds Group and is the biggest shareholder. This baby could mess up her plans. Natalie, I don't know what to do."
Natalie squeezed her hand. "Don't worry. We'll figure this out together."
That afternoon, Natalie and Bella headed back to the hospital. It was Christmas, so the place was pretty empty. The doctor on duty was a young intern. When they walked in, the intern was still buried in some textbooks. She looked up and asked a few basic questions.
"Let's do an ultrasound," the female doctor said gently.
Bella lay down on a chair in the ultrasound room.
The doctor said, "It's still early, so we can't see much, but everything looks normal. Don't worry."
Most patients here were all smiles when they werepregnant, usually with their boyfriend or husband by their side. The doctor noticed Bella was with a friend and looked worried. She thought for a moment and said, "Since it's still early, if you want to terminate the pregnancy, now's the best time. My teacher is the head of the gynecology department and will be on duty tomorrow morning. If you don't want the baby, you can think it over tonight and come back tomorrow to take care of it."
Seeing Bella was still young, the doctor assumed she didn't want the baby.
Bella bit her lip. "No. I really want this baby."
From the time Austin had been hospitalized and fell into a coma, to Cassidy taking over the Reynolds Group, to Bella finding out she was pregnant, Bella had been bottling up her emotions for too long. So much was buried deep inside her.
Bella closed her eyes, her lashes trembling. "It's just that this baby came at the worst time."
The doctor smiled. "If you think it's the wrong time, you can terminate the pregnancy and talk it over with your husband. You can always have another one later. You're too thin right now. If you want to keep this baby, you need to put on some weight."
Bella said, "My husband is in a vegetative state."
The doctor was taken aback and seemed to want to offer some comfort, but comfort from a stranger might feel empty and unhelpful.
The doctor had only been interning for three months but had already seen many heartbreaking separations
She had once assisted her teacher in a resuscitation. The patient was also in a vegetative state, having been in a coma for five years. His wife and daughter had been waiting for him to wake up. He finally did, but it wasn't a hopeful reunion; it was a final goodbye. The man had only been awake for a few minutes, just enough to say goodbye to his wife and daughter.
