Chapter 946 Indirect Imprisonment
Bella had no choice but to beg, "Austin's been so good to you. I'm his wife. How can you do this to me? Just let me go, and I'll pretend this never happened."
Nicholas moved closer, leaning against the door with one hand and shoving the marriage certificate in Bella's face with the other. "This has already happened. Look closely. Who's your husband?"
Bella stared at the marriage certificate waving in front of her. Clear as day, it had Nicholas's name on it, stamped by City Hall. The one Cassidy had seen was fake, forged by Nicholas.
"You both conspired to deceive me!" Bella hissed, "You both tricked me!" She knocked the marriage certificate to the ground.
"Bella," Nicholas grabbed her arms, "I am your husband."
Bella struggled, feeling like she was suffocating. Her life had been a mess ever since she entered the Reynolds family. She cherished the time spent with Austin, who was so warm and gentle. Austin was like a senior to her, understanding her, like the sunshine in Bella's life.
Bella was willing to face the hardship with Austin and take care of him for a lifetime. But Austin had been taken seriously ill and hadn't woken up since. And now, Bella was carrying Nicholas's child. These two brothers had played her for a fool.
She closed her eyes, her face pale, and fainted. Nicholas caught her. "Bella, Bella!"
Bella woke up the next morning and sat up. The place was unfamiliar, but the scent was familiar. It carried Nicholas's scent, a scent she was both familiar with and afraid of.
She got out of bed and walked out. Nicholas wasn't there. Only a maid was present, around 50 years old, with a kind face and a slightly plump figure, cooking. Seeing Bella come down, the maid said, "My name is Liliana. Mrs. Reynolds, you're awake. Mr. Reynolds said you should have some congee with seafood when you wake up."
Bella frowned, "I am Mrs. Reynolds but not Nicholas's wife."
Liliana didn't argue but also didn't agree, as Nicholas was the owner of this villa. Liliana smiled, "Mrs. Reynolds, come and eat. You must be hungry."
Bella was indeed hungry, but right now, she wanted to leave rather than eat. She walked to the door in a few steps. Outside was a sunroom, but no matter how she pushed the door, it wouldn't open, as if it was locked.
Liliana said, "This place is locked with Mr. Reynolds's code lock. I can't get out either. Mr. Reynolds will have people deliver food to us every day. If you need any daily necessities, you can tell them."
Bella laughed in anger, thinking, 'Isn't this just a form of house arrest? Nicholas actually dares to do this.'
Bella knew she couldn't make things difficult for the maid in front of her, as the maid probably couldn't get out either, so she could only wait for someone to deliver food and daily necessities.
Bella went upstairs, not to the master bedroom, but to the guest bedroom. She didn't like the overwhelming scent of Nicholas in the master bedroom. Sitting on the couch, she took out her phone and found it was still there. She immediately called Natalie and Natalie quickly answered.
Natalie was currently getting her makeup done and hadn't started shooting yet. "Bella? Do you miss me? I'm filming in York City right now and won't be back for another two months. When I get back, I'll treat you to dinner and a good shopping spree."
