Chapter 329 Displeasure
Daniel, in a tracksuit, walked over and glanced at James and Natalie. "What a coincidence, you're here too." He scanned the group, smiling at Natalie. "Am I interrupting?"
Natalie was surprised to see Daniel. "No, I was just about to leave."
Rosalie asked, "Natalie, who is this?"
"This is my... friend," Natalie said, hesitating.
Daniel squinted but stayed quiet.
James adjusted his glasses. "Hello."
Daniel asked, "I heard you work at NexGen Innovations Inc.?"
James nodded. "Yes."
Jasmine jumped in, bragging. "Yes, NexGen Innovations Inc., under the Howard Group. My son has been there for two years."
James felt embarrassed by his mom's boasting. "Mom."
Daniel, sizing up James, thought he seemed too dependent. "What a coincidence, I have a friend at NexGen too. Maybe I can introduce you sometime."
Jasmine assumed Daniel was bluffing. She thought, being friends with a waitress like Natalie, he couldn't be that important. She looked at Sierra, annoyed.
Sierra had praised Natalie, which is why Jasmine agreed to this meeting. Natalie was pretty, but just a waitress. Jasmine didn't think she was a good match for James.
"Sir, my son works at NexGen Innovations Inc. You look decent, but don't boast. It's not that I look down on Natalie's job, but she's not a match for James," Jasmine said, turning to Sierra. "Sierra, I trusted you. Next time, check the background first. My son makes $200,000 a year, and while I'm not demanding much from his future partner, they should at least be on the same level."
Rosalie took a deep breath. "Mrs. Hayes, what do you mean by that?"
Jasmine replied, "You know what I mean."
Sierra tried to calm things down. "Alright, Rosalie, don't take it to heart. Jasmine's just blunt. It's my fault for not checking."
Daniel looked at Natalie, who stayed calm, holding Rosalie's hand. He wasn't happy. He took out his phone, smiling. "James, do you know Jared Morgan?"
James replied, "Mr. Morgan? Yes, he's the VP of NexGen Innovations Inc."
"Good," Daniel said, dialing a number and putting it on speaker. Jared, in his office, answered immediately, "Mr. Murphy, why are you calling?"
Daniel asked, "Jared, are you at the office now?"
Jared responded, "Yes, is there something you need?"
Daniel questioned, "Is there an employee named James Hayes at NexGen Innovations Inc.?"
Jared, unsure, asked his managers, "Do either of you know James Hayes?"
