Chapter 471 My Boyfriend Will Be Upset
The conference room on the 8th floor could pack in over a hundred folks when the docs and nurses had their powwows.
This whole mess wasn’t a huge deal, but it did put a dent in the hospital’s rep. VP Leon Simmons shot a look at Traylor. "Dr. Kroger, you can't be stirring up drama here. You know better."
Traylor’s face fell; she knew she’d messed up big time.
But since VP Cindy Ross was her mom, she had a smooth ride at the hospital after graduation and rarely hit any bumps. Getting called out in front of everyone was a tough pill to swallow.
Traylor hung her head. "I'm sorry, I know I was out of line. I'll own up to the damage I caused."
Natalie was also in the room, arms crossed. "I hope the hospital will also take responsibility for the damage Dr. Kroger’s false accusations did to me. My lawyer and agent will be in touch."
Leon turned to Natalie, "I'm really sorry, Dr. Kroger acted on impulse."
Natalie checked her watch, lips tight. "Your hospital needs to step up its game when hiring doctors. A doc accusing a patient’s family of emotional issues in public? Not cool. And for the record, Dr. Kamel and I broke up ages ago, and Dr. Kroger’s breakup with him has zilch to do with me."
Natalie’s words were sharp, her voice icy, and her face stone-cold.
Traylor suddenly jumped up. "Natalie! You went behind my back and made Jagger dump me, and you still deny it!"
"Why should I admit to something I didn’t do?" Natalie’s face darkened, radiating authority. "I won’t own up to lies. Traylor, you hit on Jagger while I was still with him, and he turned you down. Plenty of people saw it at the party. Now that Jagger and I are done, you come at me with false accusations. I’ve got a boyfriend, and he won’t be happy if he hears this."
Jagger had just wrapped up a surgery and was beat. He headed to his lounge for a quick break but got a call from a nurse saying Traylor and Natalie were called to the conference room. After getting the lowdown, Jagger made a beeline for the room.
Just as he got to the door, he heard Natalie’s voice.
Her voice was something else, unique and pleasant.
When she was ticked off, it had this crisp, cool edge, like a chilled drink from the fridge.
He paused, standing at the door, his steps frozen.
As Jagger stood there, Cindy showed up. She was Traylor’s mom and had rushed over as soon as she got wind of the situation.
The two of them pushed the door open and walked in.
"Dr. Cindy Kroger, Dr. Simmons," Jagger said, "Sorry, I was in surgery. Sorry for the hassle."
Leon saw him. "Jagger, glad you’re here."
Traylor looked at Jagger, her eyes full of emotion. "Jagger."
Jagger sighed. "Traylor, I thought I made it clear. We broke up because we weren’t a good fit. I appreciate everything you did back then."
Traylor’s lips went pale. "Jagger, do you still like Natalie? Did she make you break up with me?"
