Chapter 043 Pure

Throughout the course of her existence, Natalie had been on the receiving end of Alice's numerous slaps. Despite her consistent academic excellence, Alice would rip apart her high-scoring papers without a second thought.

In Natalie's childhood, Rosalie had lovingly stitched a pink dress for her. However, upon laying eyes on it, Alice had callously tossed the garment into the trash, her voice dripping with venom as she declared, "Trash belongs in the trash can, wearing clothes picked from there!"

Natalie quivered, a torrent of resentment towards Alice surging within her. She felt a sense of resignation to her fate, the pressure nearly suffocating her.

Observing her daughter's distressed state, Rosalie heaved a deep sigh. "Natalie," she began, "without the Cullen family, we wouldn't have what we have today. You still need to go to school, you'll want to get married someday, and my health has always been poor. I can't be a burden to you; I might pass away any day..."

"Mom!" Natalie flung herself into Rosalie's arms. "Mom, you're going to get better. We'll find a kidney donor, and I'll find a way to get you a transplant!"

"Silly girl, that costs so much money. We don't have that kind of money. I can stay here because the Cullen family has been helping us. Natty..." Rosalie used Natalie's nickname, her eyes brimming with tears. "I'm sorry you have to suffer like this with me. You weren't supposed to go through this."

Rosalie's voice choked up, her arms tightly wrapped around Natalie, but she couldn't bring herself to continue.

That night, a striking man clad in a white coat strolled past the nurse's station. A young nurse flushed as she called out to him. "Dr. Kamel, are you on the night shift tonight?"

Jagger responded with a smile, "Yes, I am."

As he spoke, he noticed Natalie sitting dejectedly on a chair outside the hospital room. His brows furrowed slightly as he approached her. "Natalie."

Natalie looked up, her eyes red-rimmed and glistening with unshed tears. Her voice was thick with emotion as she greeted him, "Dr. Kamel."

Jagger paused, concerned by her appearance. "Are you worried about your mother?"

Natalie remained silent, but at his question, her tears, which she had barely managed to stop, started falling again.

The next moment, a tissue materialized before her. Jagger held it out between his fingertips, softly assuring her, "Don't worry, I'll keep an eye out for a kidney donor. We'll find one."

Noticing a slight improvement in Natalie's mood, Jagger offered a comforting smile. "Would you like to sit in my office for a while?"

Jagger still vividly remembered the first time he had met Natalie.

He had just completed a kidney transplant surgery under his mentor's guidance, and Natalie's mother's condition was not yet critical, but required hospital treatment. Natalie, clad in a light grey plaid dress, her long hair cascading over her shoulders, had looked at him with a mix of fear and hope. "Doctor, can you save my mother?"

Years later, he often found himself reflecting on that moment.

Those beautiful eyes of hers held the purest gaze he had ever encountered.
