Chapter 1327 The Wedding is Postponed by One Week
As a member of the Howard family, even when you're starving, you gotta keep up basic table manners.
She wiped the corner of her mouth with her hand. The chef here was pretty good; the food tasted alright.
"What's this dish called? I've never had it before."
Isaac replied, "It's one of Emberfall City's specialties."
Elmer chimed in, "Don't big cities have everything?"
Rachel thought for a moment. "I've never gone to the grocery store or bought these things myself. The servants at home always took care of everything, so I've never seen this before. Just like you rarely leave here, I rarely leave my home."
Rachel bit her lip and said, "So, can you let me go home? My family must be missing me. I can give you money, as much as you want."
Isaac knew that the woman in front of him, Eve, came from a prestigious family. Judging by her tone, she seemed to be quite wealthy.
He said, "In that case, we definitely can't let you go. If we do, what if you retaliate against us?"
Rachel was momentarily speechless.
Isaac continued, "After you finish eating, have the servants take your measurements and get a dress ready. You're getting married tomorrow."
The house needed some cheer and excitement.
Rachel immediately refused and stood up. "No way!"
Isaac's face darkened. "It's not up to you!"
Rachel was furious. "You... I don't even know your son. How can we get married? I don't have any identification or proof. Isn't this too unfair? At the very least, we should develop some feelings before getting married!"
She looked at Elmer, who was still eating. "Hey, why aren't you saying anything?"
Elmer put down his utensils and looked at Rachel with a gloomy expression, making her feel uneasy.
The servants said that Elmer was very reclusive and rigid due to his illness, with an unusually strange personality.
Isaac glanced at his son. "Fine, I'll give you some time to get to know each other. One week. You'll spend one week together to develop some feelings."
Rachel temporarily breathed a sigh of relief.
One week. In one week, maybe someone would come to rescue her.
Elmer went upstairs, and Rachel lingered in the living room.
She turned on the TV and watched for a while.
She couldn't focus on anything.
At 10:30 PM, two bodyguards came down to ‘invite' her upstairs.
Rachel couldn't resist. If she refused, they would probably carry her up.
Rachel decided to go upstairs herself.
Once she closed the door, it was locked.
Rachel turned around, knowing that knocking would be useless.
She was stuck living with this sickly, eccentric Elmer.
Just thinking about it made her feel like she was going crazy.
She sat down on the couch, listening to the sound of water from the bathroom. Her heart started racing, and her mind was in chaos.
But this sickly Elmer seemed very weak and probably wouldn't do anything to her.
There was a tablet on the table. Rachel turned it on, and a movie called Rising Winds, starring Natalie, popped up. Seeing a familiar face, Rachel's eyes instantly welled up.
She started the movie.
Listening to Natalie's voice, Rachel couldn't help but cry. Natalie, you and Adrian have to come save me.
