Chapter 492 Austin Is in Shock
Cassidy shot a look at Lucy, and Lucy got the hint right away. "Ms. Swan, Mr. Reynolds ain't home. He hit the hospital last night. I whipped up some healthy soup to take over. Wanna tag along?"
Bella was all in.
She was dying to know how Austin was holding up.
She nodded like crazy.
In the hospital room.
Austin was already awake. After last night's treatment, he was good to go.
Nicholas hadn't caught a wink, his eyes were bloodshot. He grilled Brian, "Austin's allergic to mangoes. Everything he eats goes through you. How'd you miss that?"
Funny enough, both Austin and Nicholas were allergic to mangoes.
He still remembered when Austin was three, he ate a mango and almost kicked the bucket.
They rushed him to the hospital, and after four hours of emergency treatment, he pulled through.
Since then, the Reynolds family chef kept mangoes off the menu.
Austin had a nasty reaction to mangoes!
Brian sighed. "Last night, Ms. Swan brought over some dessert. I didn't realize it had mango juice. My bad."
Austin shook his head. He looked at Nicholas and weakly said, "Nicholas, it's not Brian's fault, nor Bella's."
Nicholas sneered. "Not her fault? Austin, Bella's Cassidy's plant, and you say it's not her fault? You almost died!"
"I trust her. She's not like that." Austin's eyes were clear. "Nicholas, she's different."
Nicholas looked at Austin, stunned.
What kind of magic did Bella have to make Austin defend her like this?
Nicholas said, "Austin, you trust her, but I don't. From the moment Cassidy set up this marriage, I knew she was Cassidy's puppet, and last night's mess proves it."
Austin didn't know how to explain it to Nicholas, but he trusted Bella. She wasn't that kind of girl. She had straight-up told him she rejected Cassidy's setup. Her eyes were as clear as a mountain stream, a light he'd never seen before.
He saw the light, his light.
Outside the hospital room, footsteps echoed.
Brian walked out.
He saw Bella and Lucy at the door. Brian's eyes locked on Bella, looking shocked. Maybe he had trusted the wrong person. From what he'd seen, Bella seemed like a clean and pure girl.
But now, Bella showing up with Lucy made it look like she was Cassidy's pawn.
Brian's face darkened. "What are you doing here?"
Lucy said, "How's Mr. Austin Reynolds? What happened?"
Before Brian could answer, a cold, mocking voice came from the hospital room. "You don't know what happened?"
Then, Nicholas walked out.
He had this sharp, cold vibe that made Lucy shiver. Nicholas's bloodshot eyes were icy as he stared at Lucy.
Lucy was so freaked out by his gaze that she took a step back.
Lucy quickly said, "Mr. Nicholas Reynolds, you're wrong. I'm worried about Mr. Austin Reynolds too."
"Austin's fine, much to your disappointment." Nicholas snorted. "Get out of the hospital. I don't wanna see you here."
