Chapter 539 Believe

When Heather first laid eyes on those pics, she was kinda shocked 'cause the angle and the face were a dead ringer for Natalie.

No one would ever suspect Alice.

Alice was a Cullen, loaded, and wouldn't be caught dead doing something like selling herself.

But Natalie was a whole different story. A broke girl might make those choices.

So, even though Alice and Natalie looked alike, no one thought it was Alice in the photo.

Natalie let out a slow breath. She shut her eyes, leaned back on the couch, and after a few seconds, she started, "I grew up at my grandma's place in Silvervale Town. Then an earthquake took my grandma from me. I was ten, and that's when I ended up with the Cullens. My mom was their housekeeper, and my dad was their driver. Life was okay at first, but Alice and I didn't click. She was the Cullens' princess, and even though they were just getting rich back then, they were still doing well. Alice was spoiled, and I was just the maid's kid eating leftovers and taunted by Alice. We looked a lot alike, but our lives were worlds apart. I envied her, but I also liked my own cozy life."

Natalie was just a girl who content herself with her simple life..

"Then my dad and brother died in a car crash. It was just me and my mom. She got diagnosed with kidney problems and needed a transplant. I worked my butt off to make money. Then I met Adrian, but when we first met, he didn't even know it was me." She laughed bitterly, "A lot of times, I chose to spend money on meds over my mom's treatment. She was all I had, and I didn't want to lose her. But sometimes, it felt like fate was out to get me, like it couldn't stand me having an easy life."

She looked at Heather, saying, "Rosalie isn't my real mom. My real mom is a woman I hate."

Heather held Natalie's hand. "Natalie." She didn't know how to comfort her. The cold, numb look on Natalie's face seemed to be saying she was used to the pain.

Natalie kept talking, "Heather, you know what? I've lost so much. My dignity, my child, all for my mom's safety and health, but there was also betrayal."

Heather's eyes widened. Natalie looked so young, yet she had a kid. She must've been through hell. During their time together, Natalie was always calm and gentle, someone Heather admired.

She never expected Natalie to have such a rough past.

"It's all behind you now, Natalie. Things are different." Heather tried to pull Natalie out of her dark memories, but Natalie just smiled sadly, saying, "I never wanted to fight anyone or seek revenge, but they never let me be."

Heather squeezed Natalie's hand, trying to give her some strength.

Natalie said, "Heather, there's light ahead, but it's not for me."

Heather was at a loss for words. "Natalie."

Natalie said bitterly, "My light, he's gonna leave me. I try not to depend on him, but I can't help it. Sometimes, I feel so useless."
