Chapter 729 The One Who Needs Rest Is You
Natalie saw Bella getting all teary-eyed and grabbed her hand. "Bella, you need to go back and get some rest."
Bella had been crashing here for days, and it was clear she was running on fumes. She looked way skinnier, her face all gaunt.
Natalie felt her heart ache and just wanted Bella to catch some sleep.
With Austin still out cold, Bella was on the verge of a meltdown herself.
Bella's eyes flicked from Nicholas to Natalie. "Natalie, I wanna wait for Austin. I need to be here with him. Let me stay."
Natalie bit her lip. "But you gotta take care of yourself, too."
Bella shook her head. Right now, she didn't care about anything else; she just wanted Austin to wake up.
Natalie stuck it out with Bella all night, and Nicholas didn't bail, either.
Eventually, Bella was so wiped she slumped against Natalie's shoulder.
Natalie held her gently, and Nicholas brought over a blanket, tucking Bella in. Only then did Natalie really look at Nicholas.
Nicholas was young and hot, just like how people around him described, a bit of a bad boy. But right now, his eyes were bloodshot, and he had dark circles. He even had some scruff going on. It looked like he hadn't slept in days either.
Natalie knew she couldn't do much about the whole illness thing. She couldn't really comfort Bella; all she could do was be there. So, she called Heather to ask for a couple of days off.
Then she hit up Chris. Even at this late hour, Chris was still grinding in the studio. When he got Natalie's message, he called back right away.
Seeing Chris's call, Natalie put her phone on silent, straightened up, and laid Bella down. She crept a bit away before answering.
Chris said, "Stick with your friend and handle your stuff. If two days ain't enough, I'll give you an extra day."
Natalie was grateful. "Thanks, Chris."
When Natalie got back to the ICU entrance, she saw Bella knocked out on Nicholas's shoulder. Natalie frowned a bit. She'd heard Bella talk about Nicholas before—a useless playboy who just happened to be the president of Star Entertainment. But the guy was lucky; the movies Star Entertainment had backed recently had done pretty well, raking in the dough.
Still, Nicholas didn't really run things; it was always the VP doing the heavy lifting.
Natalie walked over, and Nicholas said, "Ms. Teeger, I can handle Bella here. You should go get some rest."
Natalie eyed Nicholas warily and lowered her voice. "Bella's my friend. I'm not leaving. Besides, don't you think, given how we both look, you should be the one to rest?"
Nicholas replied, "This is a Reynolds Family issue."
"Then don't drag Bella into your family drama." Natalie knew the Reynolds family was a hot mess. Cassidy couldn't wait for Austin to kick the bucket so she could snatch up his shares. That way, she could claim Austin was dead, Nicholas was useless, and take over the Reynolds Group during this crisis.
Natalie never thought Bella would fall for Austin.
When Bella first decided to marry into the Reynolds Family, she came to Natalie in tears. But now, Bella was neck-deep in it. Natalie didn't care about the Reynolds Family; she was just a regular person who couldn't mess with a powerful family. She just wanted Bella to be happy.
