Chapter 193 One Test Will Tell

Inside the hospital.

Ruben underwent an examination, and the doctor removed his mask. "Fortunately, the rescue was timely. Otherwise, it could have been dangerous."

Ruben had undergone heart surgery in his early years. Although he had always been robust and recovered well, he was getting older, and various minor ailments had appeared. Lying in bed, listening to the doctor's words, he felt that he indeed needed to thank Natalie tonight.

Joe asked, "Doctor, how is my dad now?"

The doctor replied, "He needs to rest well, but there's no major issue anymore."

Melissa also sighed in relief and followed Joe out to discuss Ruben's condition with the doctor in detail.

In the ward, there were still Adrian, Rachel, and Donte. Jamie, leaning on a cane, stood about two meters away from the bed.

Ruben waved his hand. "Alright, it's nothing serious. You all can leave now and go back."

None of the younger ones moved. Rachel blinked her eyes. "Grandpa Ruben, you really scared us."

Mr. Howard patted Rachel's hair. "But I'm fine now, aren't I?"

Rachel leaned on the edge of the bed. Ruben said, "Jamie, since it's hard for you to move around, you should go back. I don't need too many people here. With Adrian around, the rest of you don't need to stay."

Jamie nodded. "You have a good rest."

Ruben said to Rachel, "You should go back too. Donte, take Rachel home."

Rachel wiped her tears. "Grandpa, I'll leave now and come to see you tomorrow."

Donte glanced at Adrian and said to Ruben, "Rest early." Then he left with Rachel.

In the ward, only Adrian and Ruben remained.

Adrian sat down on the accompanying chair.

Seeing that Ruben was fine, he also felt relieved.

"Adrian, I don't know how much longer my body can hold up. You should set the wedding date with Alice soon, so I can be at ease," Ruben added.

Adrian didn't know why, but he felt a bit of aversion to the wedding. It seemed he didn't want to get married quickly. This feeling was strange, and he didn't have strong feelings for Alice. If Alice weren't pregnant, he might have canceled the marriage and compensated her in another way.

At this moment, Ruben was lying on the sickbed, his spirit wasn't great. His temples were gray and his eye sights were receding. It seemed like Ruben was entrusting his last wish. Adrian pressed his lips into a thin line. "I understand, Grandpa Ruben."

"Natalie." Ruben said, "She saved me. If she ever needs anything from the Howard family, try to fulfill her requests."

Hearing Natalie's name, Adrian skipped a beat in his heart and replied hoarsely, "I understand."

Alice returned to the Cullen family and threw a fit. Avery looked at her and asked, "What's wrong? You had a nice dinner, and now you're throwing a tantrum at home."

Alice didn't dare to say anything. She was somewhat afraid of Avery.

"Nothing," Alice replied.

Avery scolded her, "You need to change your temper. You're going to be the future mistress of the Howard family." She touched Alice's belly. "Don't scare the child. Your belly is the most precious thing now."

"I understand," Alice asked, "Mom, how is Rosalie?"

"I stopped her medication for two days, and she couldn't hold on, experiencing rejection reactions. Now she's in a coma every day," Avery said.

Alice frowned. "What if Natalie finds out? If she knows, it will be hard to control. Even a rabbit will bite when cornered. You don't know her. Mom, don't let Rosalie die."

Avery said, "What are you afraid of? If she dies, it serves Rosalie right!"

"Mom, let's keep Rosalie alive. If Natalie goes crazy, we won't be able to control her. I've mentioned the wedding several times, but Adrian hasn't given a clear response. I'm afraid the Howard family wants to test the DNA first. Once the child in my belly is born, a test will reveal it's not the Howard family's child," Alice added with anxiety.
