Chapter 625 A Different Kind of Gift

"Man, didn't think Natalie had it in her to be so cutthroat," Alice racked her brain for a while. "Alright, I'll front you a hundred grand for now. I'll figure out the rest later."

"Alice, I knew you'd come through for me," Diana said, her voice dripping with disdain at the mention of Natalie. "That chick is the worst. My friend even lost her job 'cause of her."

"Your friend? Who are we talking about?" Alice asked.

"It's Rose, the reporter. She got canned for snapping pics of Natalie at the hospital last night. Rose has been with that paper for three years, and the editor just tossed her out. Alice, you gotta help her out and get her a gig at another paper. She got fired trying to help us, after all."

Diana watched Alice's face but was fuming inside. Rose had risked it all to help Alice get those secret shots of Natalie, and now she was jobless. And to top it off, Diana couldn't even get in touch with Rose.

"Let me think about it," Alice said, feeling the weight of the situation. She didn't have a ton of connections in the entertainment biz, so finding Rose a new job was gonna be a hassle. But since Rose was Diana's friend, she felt kinda responsible.

Alice pulled out her phone and dialed Karen. "Hey Karen, you know anyone at a magazine? I got a friend who's an editor and just lost her job. Think you can help her out?"

Karen had a massive network, and getting a job at a newspaper was a piece of cake for her. Plus, Alice still had some pull with the Howard family, so as long as the favor wasn't too crazy, Karen could swing it.

"Send me her resume, and I'll take care of it," Karen replied.

With that sorted, Alice hung up and took Diana on a shopping spree. After hitting up a bunch of boutiques, Alice was loaded down with shopping bags. They strolled into a jewelry store, and Alice picked out a simple pearl necklace for two grand.

Diana wrinkled her nose. "Alice, why are you buying that ugly necklace? Is it for Mrs. Cullen? She doesn't even like that style, does she?"

And it was pretty cheap, just a basic pearl necklace for two thousand bucks.

"It's for Rosalie," Alice said.

"Why are you giving it to her? You don't actually plan on taking care of Rosalie, do you?" Diana had seen the trending news on Facebook.

Alice smirked. "Just for show, to snap some pics. Right now, public opinion is on my side, and my Facebook followers are blowing up. That bitch Natalie tried to set me up, but she probably didn't expect people to praise me for looking after Rosalie. Natalie's off filming while I'm the one taking care of her mom. I can totally use this to my advantage."

"Wow, you're a genius," Diana said, impressed.

Alice pointed to a diamond necklace. "That one, wrap it up for me."

She wanted to give it to Avery.

The sales assistant quickly grabbed the diamond necklace and mentioned the price. "This is a limited edition that just came in today. We only have two in the store. It's sixty-eight thousand dollars. Are you sure you want it?"

The sales assistant wasn't trying to be rude, but since Alice had just bought a two-thousand-dollar necklace, she wondered if Alice could really afford the pricey diamond one.
