Chapter 249 Suspicion
Natalie was deeply grateful. "Please thank your friend for me. If she comes back anytime soon, let me know."
Bella waved it off. "No worries. He owns tons of properties. Just stay here and relax."
They clinked glasses. "Cheers."
That night, Natalie couldn't sleep. She and Bella watched movies in the living room until dawn. Around 5 am, Bella dozed off. Natalie got up and partially opened the curtains, letting in the early morning light.
Natalie felt her life might be turning around.
She thought, 'The future really is a beautiful word.'
In the study, Brice watched Adrian's reaction. "Dr. Collins, who's treating Ms. Cullen, said her condition is bad and there's a risk of miscarriage."
Adrian asked, "Is it that serious?"
Brice nodded. "Yes, but..."
Adrian pressed, "But what?"
Brice continued, "I've had my men keep an eye on Ms. Cullen and found Carlos' men around her."
"Carlos," Adrian repeated, narrowing his eyes.
Adrian never liked Carlos, but Carlos' father, John Duncan, had been the Howard family's butler for years. John was impressive; he saved Ruben's life years ago, losing an eye and getting a prosthetic one.
Ruben treated him like family, and John held a position in the Howard Group.
But Carlos was a troublemaker, always hanging out with delinquents and causing issues, relying on John to bail him out.
He thought, 'Why would Carlos' men be around Alice?'
Adrian looked at Brice, his face serious. "Are you sure?"
"Yes, it's Carlos' guy, Ivan Guise." Brice showed a photo from a surveillance camera, showing Renee talking to a man near the hospital room.
Renee was the Cullen family's butler.
Adrian's expression grew complicated. He smirked. "Keep a close watch on them."
"Will do," Brice said. "By the way, Mr. Howard, the guy in the photo you asked me to check out is Frank Harris. He often visits a bar near Vachilit High School No. 13. Here's his info."
Brice handed over the details, and Adrian glanced at it, narrowing his eyes.
Blue Bar was a watering hole located on the road leading to Vachilit High School No. 13. Although the sign at the entrance clearly stated "No Minors Allowed," the rules were not strictly enforced. At this hour, the nightlife was just beginning to heat up.
As Adrian walked in, the bar was buzzing with activity, and laser lights were spinning around. He raised his hand to shield his eyes and made his way to the counter, where he ordered a drink.
"Hey handsome, drinking alone?" A woman with red lips and wavy hair approached. She blushed as she got closer, eyeing Adrian's expensive Patek Philippe watch.
She swayed her hips and said, "Drinking alone is no fun. Mind if I join you?"
"No thanks," Adrian replied coldly.
The woman wasn't giving up. In a bar like this, men with as much money as Adrian were few and far between. She frequented this place often, and not only did Adrian's status attract attention, but his striking features did as well.
"Sir," she said, leaning closer in her tight red dress, her perfume heavy and overpowering.
Adrian's expression remained cold and uninviting. The scent of her perfume made him wrinkle his nose in distaste.
"Get lost!"
