Chapter 25 Fear of Being Found Out

Natalie approached him with a clear purpose. She skipped her elective classes for two weeks, but showed up on his first day of teaching. Even in the Cullen family, she kept drawing his attention. She turned out to be such a vain and promiscuous person.

Even though his drink had been spiked, he could recall bits and pieces. Last night, he wasn't completely out of control. It was touching her that made him lose it.

As he thought about it, his eyes snapped open, cold and deep. He reached out and knocked the papers off his desk with a swift motion. Clenching his fist, he he slammed it onto the desk with a dull thud.

He actually misjudged Natalie!

The Howard family's invitation was a big deal. It was Alice's first time visiting such a family. Even though Avery wasn't thrilled about Natalie standing in for her daughter, she couldn't afford to be careless. The clothes she picked for Natalie fit well, though they were totally Alice's style.

Natalie put on heavy makeup again, using thick concealer to cover the hickeys on her neck. She then took out the diamond pendant Bella had given her for her birthday and put it on.

The pendant felt cool against her skin, but the chain was a bit long, so it disappeared into her clothes.

Before leaving, Natalie took a deep breath.

She had to face it, even if he hated her.

The Howard family seated near Silvermist River, a prime spot in the bustling city center.

In the villa area, there was a row of four-story buildings, all belonging to the Howard family.

Natalie had just parked her car at the Howard Mansion when she saw Adrian getting out of a Bentley.

He opened her car door himself. "Alice, sorry. Work's been crazy, and I couldn't pick you up."

"No worries." Natalie felt a bit guilty, but seeing he wasn't affected by last night, she relaxed.

Her fingers tightened slightly, reminding herself she was Alice now, not Natalie.

The next moment, a warm hand enveloped her clenched one. She shivered slightly and looked up at Adrian beside her.

Adrian played with her hand, a faint smile on his lips. "Nervous?"

She nodded lightly.

She was afraid of being found out.

Just then, a middle-aged man with one eye but a muscular build walked over. "Adrian, Ms. Cullen."

Adrian introduced him, "This is Paul Duncan. He's been with my grandfather for years."

Paul was the Howard family's butler and Ruben's godson, so he had quite a bit of status.

"Hello, Paul," Natalie greeted him respectfully. Paul nodded slightly and said to Adrian, "Adrian, Ruben wants to see you in the study."

Adrian squeezed her fingers and said, "Take a look around the house. I'll go see Grandpa."

Natalie nodded in understanding.

After Adrian left, Paul led Natalie into the mansion and had a maid named Mary take her to the garden.

From the outside, Howard Mansion looked like a four-story villa, with top-notch security and beautiful landscaping. As Natalie followed Mary, they suddenly heard heavy breathing from the bamboo grove ahead.

Natalie frowned slightly. The dense bamboo grove hid the people making the noise, but the sound was unmistakable.

Mary quickly led Natalie away. "Ms. Cullen, let's go."

Natalie nodded, awkwardly looking away.

They didn't try to hide their footsteps so the people in the grove must have heard them.

However, instead of stopping, they made louder sounds.
