Chapter 389 Curiosity

He clenched his jaw and squinted at Stanley's tombstone, his face all scrunched up. Outta nowhere, he started breathing all weird and heavy. He took a deep breath, and bam, a creepy red image popped into his head. What the heck was going on? His breathing got even heavier.

Natalie was busy yanking out weeds, totally oblivious to his freak-out. Raymond's throat felt like sandpaper. "Natalie, how old were you when your brother and dad passed?"

Natalie said, "I had just started middle school."

Raymond threw another question at her, "Did your brother like eating ginger?"

Natalie replied, "Nah, but my mom was all about it, saying it was good for him, kept him warm and all that. But Ryan hated it. No matter what we said, he wouldn't touch it. We could use a bit for cooking, but it had to be picked out so he couldn't see it. We had to use ginger juice, not chunks, 'cause he could taste it."

Raymond kept digging, "What other things did your brother dig or despise?"

Natalie said, "He didn't eat cilantro, only sometimes ate onions, and he hated lamb 'cause he thought it tasted too gamey."

She added, "He was a lefty, and his handwriting with his left hand was super neat."

Raymond's mind was blown. "Left-handed?"

He looked at his own left hand.

He'd never thought of himself as a lefty; he'd always used his right hand as far as he could remember.

But sometimes, his left hand did feel pretty quick.

Raymond stared at Stanley's tombstone, and his chest was hit with a wave of emotions, a feeling he couldn't even describe.

Brice and his girlfriend Helen showed up at the cemetery to visit Helen's late dad.

This was one of the biggest cemeteries in Vachilit. Brice didn't expect to bump into Natalie here. Seeing Natalie wasn't a big deal, but seeing her with Raymond? That was something else.

After thinking for a sec, Brice decided to snap a pic of them. He figured if Adrian saw these two hanging out alone, he'd totally flip. This morning, Adrian was already in a bad mood, even though he seemed fine after talking to Natalie yesterday afternoon.

Adrian's temper was a total mystery sometimes.

Helen caught him in the act. "Brice, are you sneaking pics of other girls? You got a thing for her? She does have a killer figure! Brice! We're here to visit my dad, and you're taking pics of other women behind my back!"

Helen pinched Brice.

Brice winced. "How could I dare, Helen?" He lowered his voice and pointed at the figure. "That woman, she's hot, but I wouldn't dare think about her. She's Mr. Howard's girl."

Helen was shocked. "Mr. Howard?"

Brice nodded.

Helen was even more shocked. "No way!"

Everyone at the company knew Adrian was cold as ice. Helen quietly took out her phone and zoomed in with the camera. "Who's that guy next to her? He's tall and good-looking."

Brice replied, "That's Raymond Newman."

Helen said, "Mr. Howard's girl, hanging out with Raymond? Are they on a date?"

Brice gave her a look. "Helen, you hit the nail."

Helen covered her mouth. "Could it be true? Who is this woman anyway? Both Mr. Howard and Mr. Newman are into her? I gotta see her." Helen suddenly remembered. "Wait, doesn't Mr. Howard have a fiancée?" She looked at Brice and pinched his arm. "No way, is this woman Mr. Howard's side chick?"

Brice snorted. "Doesn't matter. Mr. Howard ain't married yet. And this woman, forget it, the less you know, the better. Let's finish up and get outta here."

Helen nodded. "You're right."
