Chapter 1349 At That Time, She Must Have Been Desperate
Colby, Jamie, and Adrian had been tight since they were kids.
But everything changed after the incident with Andrea, causing Jamie and Adrian to fall out, leaving Colby stuck in the middle.
"Jamie, Rachel's smart. She'll find a way to reach out. She'll be okay. She's Colby's sister. If Rachel saw you like this, she'd be pissed."
Jamie gripped the bottle tightly. "You don't get it. That night, I hung up on her. I thought she was lying, just like before, trying to get my attention." He trembled. "It was me. I failed Rachel. She called for help, and I hung up on her."
She must have felt so desperate.
"Jamie," Colby tried to comfort him.
Suddenly, footsteps and arguing voices came from the entrance.
Colby looked up to see Adrian approaching, with two bar staff trying to hold him back. "He's my friend," Colby said, and they let Adrian through.
Adrian stormed over to Jamie, grabbed his collar, and punched him hard in the face.
"Jamie, if anything happens to Rachel, I'll never forgive you! You'll pay for it!" Adrian roared.
Jamie snapped out of his daze from the punch, blood trickling from his lip. He glared at Adrian and swung back, hitting Adrian's jaw. Soon, they were brawling.
Colby tried to intervene but got punched in the stomach. He clutched his abdomen, gasping, "You two are unbelievable! Go ahead, fight. I don't care anymore. The hospital's not far. When you're done, I'll have an ambulance take you both there."
He caught his breath, "Go ahead, hit hard."
The coffee table was knocked over, bottles spilling everywhere. Colby watched anxiously as the staff tried to intervene. He knew they needed to vent their frustration over Rachel's disappearance. "It's okay," he told the staff. "Put the damages on my tab."
After about fifteen minutes, they were exhausted.
They leaned against the sofa, sitting on the carpet, panting.
Both had several cuts on their faces.
Jamie picked up a beer and took a swig.
Adrian opened a bottle and drank.
Seeing they had vented their anger, Colby said, "Jamie, Adrian, if Rachel were here, she'd be mad seeing you two fight like this. When you fought as kids, I couldn't stop you alone. Rachel always helped me. I'd hold Jamie back, and Rachel would hold Adrian."
Jamie closed his eyes. "I'll find her. I promise."
Only now did Jamie realize he didn't dislike Rachel. Losing her made him understand how deeply she had touched his heart.
Jamie's phone buzzed.
He jolted, suddenly sober, seeing Andrea's number. He felt deflated but forced himself to answer, "Hey, Andrea."
"Jamie, my leg hurts so much. I don't know what's wrong, but it's suddenly painful, and walking is uncomfortable."
