Chapter 964 The Will is Fake
"We gotta keep things low-key for now, but the Reynolds Villa is our safest bet. Cassidy won't touch the stuff in the safe just yet. I'll figure out a way to check things out again." Nicholas squinted. This time, he was gonna take down Ellsworth first. Who would've thought a seemingly honest and straightforward butler could be so skilled?
The doctor handed him some meds. "Go home and rest. Call me if you need anything. You were way too reckless the other day. If you hadn't dodged the vital spots, do you think you'd be sitting here talking to me now?"
Nicholas didn't head straight home. Instead, he told his driver to drive, closing his eyes, "Lose the car tailing us."
"Got it." The driver took a few detours and managed to shake off the tail.
After about thirty minutes, they pulled up at the entrance of Golden Crest Manor.
Golden Crest Manor really lived up to its hype as the only Vistalia-style manor among the top ten estates.
The massive magnolia flowers looked almost real, and the light mist added a touch of elegance.
The car stopped, and Nicholas got out, heading into the living room.
He paused, his black leather shoes rubbing against the mat at the entrance.
Nicholas glanced around the living room just as Liliana was coming down the stairs with a tray.
The food on the tray was barely touched, and even the milk was still full.
Nicholas's eyes narrowed sharply. He was clearly annoyed with Bella's hunger strike attempt to see him.
Liliana saw Nicholas and quickly walked over. "Mr. Reynolds, you're back. Ms. Swan is in the study upstairs."
Nicholas's gaze flicked to the tray in Liliana's hands, then he headed upstairs.
The study was where Bella had been spending most of her time lately.
Only these books kept her company.
Bella opened a detective novel, read a few pages out of boredom, and felt a bit restless.
She walked to the window and pushed the window ajar.
It had rained all night last night. Now it had stopped, but there was still a light mist.
Bella inhaled the scent of the grass after the rain, a faint fragrance of vegetation, feeling a sense of freedom from outside. But she had no freedom now.
She extended her arm outside the window.
The breeze brushed against her fingers, and her pupils trembled slightly as there was a sound at the door.
It was the sound of footsteps, the dull thud of leather shoes on the carpet, which wasn't Liliana's.
Bella turned around as the door handle turned, and Nicholas, dressed in a gray suit, walked in. He was wearing a black shirt underneath. He had a handsome face, but unlike Austin's gentle warmth, Nicholas's eyes held a fierce and bloody aura.
This was Nicholas, a completely different person from Austin.
Her hunger strike seemed to have worked.
Bella leaned against the window, her back straight against the windowsill, as if that was the only way she could muster any strength. "Nicholas, imprisoning me here is illegal."
Nicholas looked around. It seemed he hadn't spent much time here; he wasn't very familiar with everything in Golden Crest Manor, even though it was now his place.
Nicholas's gaze swept over Bella's face, then he walked to the desk and sat down, looking at the book Bella had been reading.
Nicholas crossed his legs, looking at Bella. She was slender, and it seemed she had lost more weight over the past few days.
