Chapter 168 Natalie's Cooking Skills

"Adrian, I prepared this lunch for you this morning. I spent the whole morning cooking this soup. Try it." Alice said as she opened the lunchbox and poured out the chicken soup, filling the air with the aroma of chicken soap.

Adrian took a sip, feeling surprised. In his mind, Alice had been pampered since childhood. He never expected her to be able to cook, let alone cook so well. He finished a whole bowl of soup and asked, "Did you make this?"

Alice blinked, knowing she couldn't cook. She found the smell of cooking oil in the kitchen nauseating. However, since Adrian liked the food, she naturally wanted to please him. "Of course." she smiled. "Is it good?"

"Yes, it's not bad," he said.

Alice was surprised by Natalie's cooking skills. However, even if she cooked well, Adrian still thought it was her cooking.

"Adrian, I cut my hand with a knife while preparing this lunch for you. See?" Alice raised her hand, showing her left hand with a band-aid on her finger from a minor cut she got last night. She looked at Adrian with a touch of grievance.

"You don't have to do this in the future. I'll have the housekeeper send the food." Adrian said, feeling a bit guilty for distancing himself from Alice recently.

"It's not trouble, Adrian. From now on, I'll bring you lunch every day. I'm your fiancée, and I'm carrying your child. I do all this willingly," Alice said, smiling.

"Thank you, Alice," Adrian said gratefully.

"As long as you like it."

Alice set out the other dishes in the lunchbox, including tomato scrambled eggs, stir-fried beef, and baked chicken parmesan. Adrian took a few bites, finding the baked chicken parmesan tender and flavorful, the beef delicious, and the tomato scrambled eggs, although a simple dish, oddly familiar, as if he had eaten it before.

Adrian's expression changed. "Alice, did you make these dishes too?"

"Of course." Alice replied, not noticing Adrian's subtle change in expression as she was immersed in her joy, imagining that they would have meals together every day, strengthening their bond over time.

Adrian frowned. Although they were ordinary dishes, he found the flavors strangely familiar. Perhaps his taste buds were playing tricks on him.

Natalie didn't arrive at Shoreview General Hospital until the afternoon.

"Bonnie, I'm Natalie, Denise's friend." Knocking on the office door, Natalie immediately recognized Bonnie, who was painting her nails. Bonnie bore some resemblance to Denise. In a mental hospital like this, where there were not many patients, the rules were not as strict.

Bonnie, with her pale pink nails, greeted Natalie warmly. "Natalie, come over. Denise told me you were looking for a part-time job. We have a few patients here, and the pay is hourly. You can leave anytime you want."

"Whatever suits you, I'm fine with it," Natalie said.

"Great, it's settled then. Change into your uniform first, then take patients from Room 202 to 207 outside to the lawn for an hour of exercise. Nurse Linda Williams will accompany you," Bonnie instructed.

There were only six rooms, mostly with child patients. The oldest was 16, and the rest were younger. Natalie saw a familiar face, the little boy Roy Brooks, whom she had seen in the bathroom that day.
