Chapter 464 Indirectly Ruining Her Own Life

The two spotted each other, but before they could say anything, Jagger bolted into the ward.

Natalie leaned against the wall outside, eyes shut tight. Even though it was late, the hospital was buzzing with doctors, nurses, and patients hustling around. A nurse who knew Natalie walked by and asked, "Natalie, is Mrs. Teeger not feeling well?"

"Yeah," Natalie replied, not really in the mood for chit-chat.

Tonight had thrown Natalie for a loop.

She couldn't chill out. Leaning against the hospital corridor, the long hallway seemed to glow white, and the busy people became black dots moving back and forth in the white light. Natalie felt dizzy.

A nurse who knew her called out, "Natalie."

Then, she collapsed into a broad, warm chest. Jagger had just come out of the ward and caught the fainting Natalie.

Jagger blurted out, "Natalie, what's wrong?"

Jagger's voice grew distant until she completely lost consciousness.

When Natalie opened her eyes, she saw a white ceiling and smelled disinfectant mixed with a faint familiar scent. She sat up and found herself on a narrow bed, covered with a man's coat. Looking around, she realized she was in the rest area of Jagger's office.

A curtain separated the area. Outside was Jagger's desk.

This seemed to be the nephrology inpatient department.

Natalie sat up, feeling a bit dizzy.

She checked her phone and saw it was already 9 PM.

Walking around the curtain, she saw Rosalie's medical records on Jagger's desk. Jagger's phone was there, but he was gone.

Natalie picked up the medical records and glanced at them before putting them down and preparing to leave. Just then, a female nurse walked in.

Natalie knew her. When Rosalie was hospitalized before, Natalie got to know all the nurses and doctors in the inpatient department. The nurse remembered Natalie too. "Dr. Kamel went to see a patient temporarily and will be back soon. Your mom is in bed 3 of room 6. She's already asleep. There's no major issue, but she needs to stay in the hospital for a few days for observation."

Natalie nodded and went to the ward.

Rosalie was already asleep. There were two people in the ward. The person in the other bed was watching TV with the volume low. It was an elderly lady. The lady glanced at Natalie and seemed to think the TV was disturbing others, so she asked her granddaughter to turn it off. The granddaughter nodded, but Natalie smiled and said it was fine.

Living here, people already suffered a lot from their illnesses. Watching TV for some entertainment was a way to find joy. Everyone was tormented by illness, and there was no need to suppress one's happiness for others. Besides, the TV volume wasn't loud.

She came to Rosalie's bedside and looked down at the woman lying in bed.

She couldn't understand why things turned out this way.

She had guessed that she wasn't Rosalie and Stanley's child and thought she might be adopted by Rosalie or Rosalie's illegitimate child with Curtis. She despised Curtis's hypocritical nature.

Natalie had only considered these two possibilities.

But she never thought she was Avery and Curtis's daughter, the true heiress of the Cullen family.

And Alice was actually Rosalie and Curtis's daughter.

Natalie didn't know how to face Rosalie.

This was her mother, but also the indirect destroyer of her life.
