Chapter 298 The Secret in the Diary

After wrapping up her scenes, Natalie went back to the Imperial Nightclub, and life carried on as usual.

Every night, she'd come home to a hot bowl of pasta waiting in the kitchen.

One morning, Natalie woke up to find Rosalie had already made breakfast and left. She showered, ate, and by then it was past 10 AM. She tidied up the living room and bedroom.

In Rosalie's room, she started making the bed.

While adjusting the pillow, she found a diary underneath it.

Not wanting to snoop, she placed it on the nightstand and grabbed fresh sheets from the closet. Suddenly, the diary fell to the floor, and as she bent down to pick it up, a gust of wind flipped the pages.

Natalie froze.

After a couple of minutes, she picked up the diary and read the page.

It was Rosalie's handwriting.

"Today, Curtis is marrying Avery, but I can't accept it. I met Curtis first, and we were together first, but Avery took him from me. Is it just because she comes from a better family? I’ll get back at her."

"I hate Avery, I hate Curtis, and I hate myself. On the wedding night, Curtis, did you know that the person sleeping with you wasn't Avery, but me?"

Natalie was stunned. She pressed her lips together and kept reading.

"I dream of Ryan and Stanley every night, and I can't sleep. Stanley, why did you take Ryan with you? Did you do it on purpose? It's my fault. I caused Ryan's death... Ryan, I'm sorry; it's my fault."

"I knew Stanley wouldn't come back once he left, but I never thought he would take Ryan with him."

"Stanley, you knew everything; you were getting back at me!"

Natalie was horrified.

How did Rosalie know Stanley wouldn't come back once he left?

Her heart pounded.

The diary was a mess, and as she flipped through it, she heard a key in the lock. She quickly shoved the diary back under the pillow, smoothed it out, and walked out like nothing happened.

Rosalie came in with groceries. "Natalie, you're up? I went to the farmers' market for some ingredients."

Natalie said, "Mom, you could've just gone to the nearby supermarket; it’s closer."

"The supermarket is expensive; the farmers' market is cheaper," Rosalie replied. "Natalie, go rest; the food will be ready soon."

Natalie took the dirty clothes and sheets to the balcony and put them in the washing machine. The noise was loud, and she stood by the window, hands on the railing, lost in thought.

She kept thinking about Rosalie's diary.

Why did Rosalie's diary say that if she knew Stanley was going out with Ryan, she would have stopped him? It seemed to imply that if only Stanley went out, she wouldn't have stopped him.

Why did Rosalie say Stanley took Ryan to get back at her?

Natalie was confused and couldn't make sense of it.

Just then, Rosalie called out urgently, "Natalie, did you go into my room?"

Natalie turned around, startled, to see Rosalie in an apron with plastic gloves on, her thin face showing anxiety and panic, as if something had been discovered.
