Seeing the worried look on Avery's face, Alice held her hand and promised, "Mom, trust me, this won't happen again. I won't risk my body anymore. Once I marry Adrian, you'll be the most respected person in Vachilit."
Avery sighed softly. "I don't expect you to marry into the Howard family, Alice. Why don't we just give up? Look at you now, lying in the hospital, and the Howard family hasn't sent anyone to see you. Let's call off the engagement. I just want you to be healthy."
Avery knew that a woman without a uterus couldn't marry into the Howard family.
