Chapter 1205 I Can Be Greedy, I Will Want More
"That was the reward he got when he was 14 and won the city-wide science competition. He had the right to name a star, and he said he wanted to call it Evening Star, a star that belonged to both of us. But later, I don't know when it started, things changed. He became distant from me, not like before. On the night of my eighteenth birthday, I wanted to give myself to him, but Jamie rejected me. He said I was just his sister."
Rachel bit her lip. "Just his sister. But why is he so good to me? If he only sees me as a sister, he shouldn't be so nice to me. It makes me greedy, makes me want more, makes me want him to belong only to me. But he never treats Andrea like a sister."
"Rachel." Natalie gently held Rachel's hand.
"Natalie, I still can't let go."
Natalie's eyelashes fluttered.
That night, Rachel drank too much, and Natalie didn't stop her.
Because Rachel said she wanted to get drunk.
Only when she's drunk can she temporarily forget Jamie.
Rachel drank one glass after another, finally collapsing on the table, talking nonsense.
"Jamie, there are so many stars in the sky. Is there one called Evening Star?"
Natalie lifted her head to look at the sky.
It was pitch black; tonight, there were no stars.
Natalie watched Rachel talk nonsense until she fell asleep. She reached out and touched Rachel's hair, thinking that once she was deeply asleep, she would find a designated driver to take them home.
Rachel's phone was on the table.
Suddenly, it rang.
Natalie glanced at it. She didn't want to intrude on Rachel's privacy, but then a call came through.
It was Jamie calling.
The phone rang three times.
Natalie answered it.
A deep, reprimanding voice from Jamie.
"Rachel, I can't believe you bribed someone close to me. The housekeeper in my home was planted by you. Did the housekeeper also tell you my schedule and where I go? I used to think you were just spoiled by your family, but now I see you're truly unreasonable! I've fired the housekeeper. From now on, I hope you don't step foot in the Lawson mansion and don't disturb Andrea's rest! Rachel, have some self-respect!"
If Natalie hadn't heard it herself, she wouldn't have believed it.
Such harsh words, all from Jamie.
Natalie pressed her lips together, not speaking, gripping the phone tightly.
On the other end, Jamie, not hearing a response, didn't soften his tone. He just assumed Rachel was still the same stubborn person.
"Did I hit the mark? Feeling guilty? I told you I don't like you, that I only see you as a sister. But if you keep this up, you won't even be a sister. Don't force me to hate you!"
"Jamie." Natalie took a deep breath.
"You're not Rachel? Who are you?" Jamie squinted. "Natalie."
"It's me. You can still recognize my voice."
"When did you get so close to Rachel?" From what Jamie knew about Rachel, she only had one good friend, Chloe, who would be the only one to answer Rachel's phone.
"Jamie, I don't know what happened between you and Rachel, but after your call this afternoon, Rachel cried all day and has been very down. I know you like Andrea, but that's no reason to hurt Rachel."
