Chapter 779 She Sensed Danger
A cop escorted the girl home while asking her for the situation inside.
Just then, a police car pulled up, and a middle-aged man stepped out. Campbell marched over and said, "Mr. Peterson."
The guy was none other than Police Chief Trevor Peterson.
Trevor asked, "What's going on? How's my wife?"
"They're all inside."
Trevor barked, "We need to keep the hostages safe! Start talking to the criminals now! Tell them they can ask for whatever they need!"
The criminals demanded two vans and for all the cops outside to clear out.
Trevor nodded.
The criminals quickly opened the metal door and dashed out, guns pointed at the hostages.
Everyone was on edge.
Trevor shouted, "We've got the vehicles for you! I promise, as long as you don't hurt the hostages, we won't do anything."
The leader of the criminals came out, looked around, and told his guys, "Get in the cars first."
Since they had hostages, the cops didn't dare to act.
There were six people, two cars, and two bags of gold and jewelry.
After getting in the cars, the six jewelry store employees were let go.
The leader of the criminals told Trevor, "Don't follow us. I'll let your wife go after three intersections. If you follow us, we'll shoot. After five intersections, we'll let this gigolo and this doctor go. If you want them all to live, stay put."
Thinking about his wife and kids, Trevor had no choice but to agree, "Alright."
After three intersections, the pregnant woman was let go. She sat by the roadside, clutching her belly, and shouted for help. Trevor rushed over and hugged her.
The pregnant woman looked at Trevor and finally broke down in tears. "I thought I'd never see you again."
Meanwhile, Derek and the female doctor were in a white van. Their hands were tied, and they were back-to-back. The woman leaned against Derek and could faintly hear his heartbeat, so clear and intense. She could also feel Derek's body heat, and her face was slightly blushed.

The other van had three robbers but no gold. They took the main road with the pregnant woman and let her go midway. Considering she was Trevor's wife, they didn't want to go too far.

After being tied up for two hours, the female doctor's wrists were red. She had been pampered all her life and had never encountered such a situation. She glanced at Derek and couldn't help but ask, "Are we going to die?"
Derek leaned against the van. "No."
She asked, "Why?"
"Do you want to die?"
The female doctor bit her lip. "No."
No one wanted to die.
Derek said, "Then that's it."
Derek looked at the girl's pale face. She was wearing a mask, but her eyes were large and filled with trembling tears.
