Chapter 640 Zero Scandals
Juniper finally chilled out. She couldn't let a moment of rage mess up her future. She was the third female lead, after all. The ratings for the two shows she did earlier this year were meh, with barely any buzz. A lot of fans were bailing on her. It was this film that kept her fans hanging on, and her future career were more promising and solid because of it.
Her agent piped up, "What are you scared of? You've got the looks, the skills, and the rep. Natalie’s just a newbie. Everyone knows she snagged that Oscar role because of her connections. Her acting's probably trash. I'll get some articles out there to slam her acting. You can totally outshine Natalie with your beauty and talent."
Juniper grinned. "Alright, I was just pissed for a sec. I'll nail this role. Don't worry."
The agent added, "I noticed Maya's trying to get close to you. You should guide her a bit. Maya's company is no joke; it's the Reynolds family's entertainment company. If you two become friends, you can help each other out down the line."
"Got it. I'll have dinner with Maya tonight." With that, Juniper whipped out her phone and shot Maya a message on Facebook to set up a meet.
The agent finally looked pleased. "The shoot starts tomorrow, so get some rest and be in top shape. Even though Oscar caved for the money and picked Natalie, he's super strict about acting. If Natalie bombs, she'll get roasted. She's only done a few films, unlike you, who's a seasoned pro. Plus, tomorrow you have a scene with Samuel. I'll get some candid shots and articles to hype up your pairing with Samuel."
Juniper nodded. "I get it."
Samuel and Matthew were old buddies. Samuel introduced Matthew to Natalie and whispered something in her ear. Matthew, watching them, smiled and rested his chin on his hand. "What are you two whispering about behind my back?"
Samuel's voice was soft. "I was saying that you're kind and approachable, and that Natalie should spend more time with you."
Matthew replied, "So you were saying nice things about me."
Samuel said, "Of course."
That night, the four of them hit up a barbecue joint. There was this famous local spot in Vilniusky that Oscar had been dying to try, so he booked a table in advance.
The food was spicy and tasty.
Natalie wasn't big on spicy food, so she just nibbled on some veggies.
Not far away, a flash went off. Natalie seemed to sense something. Actors were always on edge about this stuff.
Samuel frowned and pulled the curtains shut.
Matthew grumbled, "Even meals attract paparazzi. It's so annoying."
Oscar called for a bodyguard to deal with the paps outside.
Natalie's phone buzzed. She glanced at it; it was Adrian calling. She stood up. "I'll step outside to take this."
As soon as Natalie left, Matthew looked at Samuel. "Samuel, what's the deal with you and Natalie? How far have you two gone? This is the first time I've seen you actually chat with a female actor."
Samuel's status and rep in the entertainment world were already top-tier. Tons of actresses wanted to get close to him, and even more socialites wanted to invite him out, but Samuel almost always turned them down.
Since his debut, Samuel had zero scandals and didn't engage in any hype. He was always polite and respectful to the actresses he worked with.
