Chapter 316 Refusal

Natalie glanced at Susan, knowing she came from a rich family and was here just to meet the boss. She patted Susan's shoulder, "Finally, your dream's coming true."

Susan clasped her hands. "Even just a glimpse."

Another colleague chimed in, "Susan, what if the boss is old, like in his sixties or seventies?"

Susan's eyes sparkled. "I saw him once, ages ago, just a vague glimpse."

"Are you blind? Who do you work for?" Emma snapped, eyeing the wine stain on her suit and glaring at a waitress nearby. "You walk so fast, what if you hit a guest? Can you afford that?"

The waitress apologized, "I'm sorry, Manager Kroger! The elevator was late, and I rushed to deliver the wine. I didn't expect you to come out suddenly."

Emma snorted, "So it's my fault now?"

"It's my fault! I was too hasty!" The waitress kept her head down.

Emma raised an eyebrow, brushed the stain, and frowned at the waitress's name tag. "You're under Melody. Your manager really knows how to train!" She then headed to the elevator, clearly ready to confront Melody.

Inside Melody's office, there was an unexpected guest.

Melody asked, "Mrs. Cullen, what can I do for you?"

The guest was Avery.

Melody offered a cup of coffee. "Mrs. Cullen, it's my first time meeting you. I apologize if I've been inattentive."

Avery smiled, her neck adorned with pearls and jewels. "You must be Manager Nicholson. Thanks for looking after Natalie. I need a favor."

Melody said, "Go ahead."

"I want you to fire Natalie."Initially, Avery had Natalie work here to prevent her from graduating. Without a degree, she couldn't get a better job. She hoped Natalie would make mistakes or be taken advantage of, but Natalie had done well and earned good pay.

Melody was puzzled. "Mrs. Cullen, Natalie hasn't made any mistakes. I can't fire her without reason."

Avery, carrying an $800,000 Hermès bag, had seen her family's business boom after connecting with the Howards. She was spending lavishly.

"I won't ask for nothing," Avery said, placing money on the table. Firing an employee was easy for a manager, especially with a bribe.

Melody smiled. "Mrs. Cullen, to be honest, I don't know your issue with Natalie, but we don't fire people without cause. Natalie has done nothing wrong. I can't help you."

Avery was shocked. 'How dare someone refuse her?'

Melody, just a manager, dared to refuse her. "Do you know who I am?"
