Chapter 591 Cancel the Press Conference
A dagger got jammed into Yancy's back, and blood started dripping all over the floor.
Julian let out a loud yell.
Everyone else in the bar was totally shocked.
The leader of the thugs didn't see this coming. He was freaked out. Kent just said to rough Yancy up, not off him. He quickly waved his hand. "Let's bail!"
The dude who stabbed Yancy was frozen like a statue.
His leader smacked him across the face. "What are you standing there for? Wanna go to jail? Move it. You just killed him!"
The crew bolted out of there in a panic.
Yancy felt a sharp pain in his back. He reached behind and felt blood all over his hand. Julian's panicked voice echoed in his ears. He glanced at Julian and then slowly closed his eyes.
A bunch of other employees rushed over. "Yancy!"
In a beat-up silver-gray car, a bunch of guys in black suits scrambled in. The dude riding shotgun yelled, "Drive! Let's get outta here!"
The driver tried to start the car, but the more he panicked, the harder it was to get the engine going.
The guy next to him angrily kicked him.
The driver grabbed his phone and dialed a number. "Mr. King, we got a problem, a big one."
"What's going on? Why are you freaking out? This better be huge, or I'll kill you for waking me up," Kent cursed on the other end.
The guy said, "Yancy got stabbed. One of my guys stabbed Yancy."
Kent was shocked. "What?" After a few seconds, he asked, "Is he dead?"
The guy replied, super panicked, "I don't know, Mr. King, what should we do? We were doing this for you."
Kent said, "You're right, but I didn't tell you to stab anyone. I just told you to teach Yancy a lesson. Now you come to me to fix your mess."
Heather got a message from Mindy at 10 AM saying the press conference was canceled.
Heather was floored.
Heather wanted to push back, but Mindy cut her off, "It's not my call to cancel. Natalie should already know about this. Didn't she tell you?"
Mindy sneered a bit, "Looks like you're not in Natalie's good books, either. She didn't even tell you about this?"
Leaving Mindy's office, Heather immediately pulled out her phone and called Natalie. "Natalie, I heard from Mindy that the press conference is canceled."
Natalie replied in a low voice, "Yeah."
Heather knew she shouldn't butt into Natalie's life, but she couldn't help it. "Why?"
On the other end, Natalie's voice was still low. "Because he wants to cancel it."
"He?" Heather took a moment to realize that "he" meant Adrian. But she couldn't wrap her head around why.
Heather sensed that Natalie was feeling down. "Are we just gonna let this slide?"
Natalie sounded exhausted. "Yeah, if he says no, then it's no. It's crazy, right? I think it's crazy too. He knows the person in the video is Alice, he's seen the video, yet he still wants to protect Alice."
Heather tried to comfort her, "Natalie, it's okay. This won't hit us too hard. Oh, and speaking of which, today's team check shows that online hate against you has dropped a lot."
