Chapter 916 Innocence
Adrian lounged on the sofa while Curtis rubbed his hands together, thinking, 'Looks like all the key members in the Howard family are here. They must be taking Alice's situation seriously. Maybe there's hope for her after all.'
Curtis shot a quick glance at Avery, who spoke up, "Adrian, Alice has been in a rough spot these past few days. We can't keep her locked up any longer. Even if she messed up, she's already paid for it. Please, find a way to get her out. Curtis and I will make sure she straightens up! We won't let her pull a stunt like this again!"
Claire chimed in, "Mrs. Cullen, what Alice did was way out of line. You could say she was spoiled, but this is practically a crime. We're both women here. You're asking us to save her, but what about the woman Alice hurt? I heard Miss Hall is getting engaged next month. Isn't this going to mess things up for her?"
Avery quickly defended, "You're right, Alice did wrong, but she was provoked. Sandra pushed her, and Alice had to fight back."
But that didn't sit well with the Howard family, especially Claire.
Sandra's facial injuries were severe, almost disfiguring, and couldn't be brushed off as just retaliation.
Claire was shocked, thinking it was outrageous that she hadn't realized Alice was so ill-mannered, and Avery was even worse, always covering for her daughter.
Claire fell silent, her expression sour.
Curtis, always the smooth talker, noticed Claire's displeasure and quickly said, "Alice was wrong, and we agree to cover all the Hall family's expenses and emotional damages. We'll make sure Alice personally apologizes and will keep her in line from now on! We take full responsibility for this mess!"
Avery wasn't happy that Curtis was putting all the blame on Alice, thinking, 'Sandra provoked Alice first. Sandra publicly revealed Alice's miscarriage, which triggered her mild misbehavior. And Natalie was there too. How can someone of such low status as a servant attend such a prestigious event? It was Sandra and Natalie who caused Alice to end up in the police station! But first, we need to calm the Howard family down.'
Avery quickly agreed.
Claire's expression softened a bit, thinking Curtis at least had some decency.
Joe said, "Alice's actions are criminal, and she should face the consequences. If you want to save her, you should plead with the Hall family. If they drop the charges, Alice can be released." Joe meant the Howard family didn't want to get involved. Although Joe could easily get Alice out, it would damage the Howard family's reputation.
Curtis was in a tough spot. The Hall family was hard to negotiate with, which was why they needed the Howard family to step in.
Vance was like a rock, unmoved by any amount of money, and even offering several projects didn't work!
Avery was getting anxious, apprehending what would happen to Alice if the Howard family didn't help.
"Mr. Howard, Alice is your daughter-in-law after all. She lost her child due to an ectopic pregnancy and even lost her uterus. Alice is innocent too," Avery pleaded.
