Chapter 143 Out of Control
Natalie had caught a bad cold and a fever, but Adrian showed no mercy toward her. Natalie felt weak and dizzy.
Natalie didn't know what happened next. Adrian seemed satisfied when he let her go, causing Natalie to slump to the carpet. Suddenly, a stack of dollars came raining down on her.
The money scattered all over the carpet.
"How about that? Isn't it more than what Jagger gave you?"
Natalie looked at the scattered dollars on the floor, biting her lip tightly. Suddenly, she weakly chuckled with a hint of defiance. "Thank you for the tip, Mr. Howard. Jagger is my boyfriend and, naturally, wouldn't give me money. Of course, you are more generous."
This statement successfully angered Adrian. He nodded. "Alright, well done, Natalie."
Natalie picked up her clothes from the floor and got dressed, then bent down to pick up the scattered bills. "Mr. Howard, I hope you can keep your word and spare Jagger."
"Get out and get away from me as far as you can!" For the first time, Adrian's emotions were led by Natalie.
Natalie turned around, ready to leave, but suddenly, her head spun violently.
Natalie felt completely weak, like a fish out of water, dizzy and disoriented. She closed her eyes and slowly slumped forward.
Suddenly, an arm reached out and caught Natalie by the waist. It was Adrian who caught her. "Wake up, Natalie!"
Adrian raised his hand, covering her forehead. He then noticed Natalie's burning forehead, furrowing his brows. He looked at this face. Adrian had seen many beautiful women, and Natalie wasn't the most beautiful, but her emotions easily stirred Adrian beyond his control.
There was a ringing buzz in Natalie's ears. She didn't know where she was, only faintly hearing a voice.
"Are you sure you want to terminate it? The embryo is quite developed over forty days."
The child, her child.
Natalie's eyes tightly shut.
She seemed to see that child, feeling a deep sense of distress. For the first time, she wanted to keep the child but couldn't.
Suddenly, Natalie opened her eyes.
She saw white, with a strong smell of disinfectant in the air.
She thought she was in the hospital.
"Ms. Teeger, are you awake?" Seraphina pushed the door open and looked at her.
Natalie recognized her, Adrian's secretary.
Natalie weakly leaned against the head of the bed.
Seraphina said, "Ms. Teeger, I bought some food for you. The doctor said your fainting was due to a high fever, cold, and malnutrition."
"Did you bring me here?"
Natalie glanced around the room, and this should be the central hospital.
The fever clinic ward.
Seraphina said, "Mr. Howard brought you here."
Natalie's expression changed slightly.
How could Adrian have brought her to the hospital?
Seraphina said, "Ms. Teeger, now that you're awake, rest well. I should go back and report. By the way, can you leave your contact information? So we can reach you if needed."
Natalie gave her phone number.
Seraphina left the hospital and hurried back to the Howard Group at the fastest speed. In the CEO's office, she said, "Mr. Howard, Ms. Teeger is fine now and awake."
Adrian looked up from the documents, his expression indifferent. "Okay."
Seraphina thought that Adrian, who had seemed nervous before, would at least show some reaction upon hearing this news, but she didn't expect such indifference.
As she came out, Brice happened to come over with some documents. Seraphina gossiped with him. "Brice, who is Ms. Teeger? Our boss..."
Brice said, "Only you are so interested in Mr. Howard's love life."
Seraphina replied, "I'm just bored. Since I've been working here, I haven't seen Mr. Howard show concern for any woman." Like Alice, Mr. Howard didn't care for Alice like this.
