Chapter 462 A Secret of Over Twenty Years
Natalie's eyes went wide with shock.
Rosalie kept going, "Back then, I saw Curtis always by Avery's side, taking care of her like she was made of glass, and then Avery went into the VIP ward to have the baby. I was so jealous and pissed. My kid and Avery's kid were born almost at the same time, just a few hours apart, so I swapped them."
Natalie's eyes got even bigger. She wanted to say something, but her voice just wouldn't work.
She always thought she wasn't Rosalie's real daughter, but she never saw this coming.
She was actually Curtis and Avery's kid!
After what felt like forever, she finally managed to stammer, "Mom, you're messing with me, right? This can't be real."
Rosalie shook her head. "Nope, it's the truth. Avery is your real mom."
Natalie felt like the room was spinning. She shut her eyes and took a deep breath. "So Alice is..."
Rosalie didn't hold back. "Alice is Curtis and my daughter."
"Then my brother, my dad, aren't they the real victims here?" Natalie remembered Stanley's big smile every time he saw her as a kid. He was always so good to her.
Natalie asked, "Did Dad know?"
"He didn't at first, but he found out later." Rosalie closed her eyes, looking pained.
When Natalie was about to turn 11, she got a fever and had a blood test. That's when Stanley found out her blood type didn't match his and confronted Rosalie.
Rosalie spilled everything.
Stanley lost it and stormed out.
Three days later, on Natalie's birthday, Stanley came back.
After that, things between him and Rosalie went downhill.
Natalie remembered waiting all night on her birthday for Stanley to come back, and he brought her favorite pastries.
During that time, Stanley always looked like he was carrying the weight of the world.
Looking back, it was because of this.
Both Natalie and Rosalie just sat there in silence.
Natalie didn't know what to say, and Rosalie wasn't saying anything either.
After a few minutes, Natalie asked, "Does Alice know about this?"
Rosalie shook her head.
"Mom, was it just because you were jealous?" Natalie couldn't wrap her head around it. "You changed two families' lives just because you were jealous?"
Rosalie said, "I've felt guilty for over twenty years. I owe you the most. It's all my fault. Alice doesn't know anything."
Natalie shouted, "She doesn't know? She lived my life for twenty years, and you think saying she doesn't know makes it okay? If she's innocent, then what about me?"
"I'm sorry, Natalie." Rosalie's words felt empty, but she didn't know what else to say.
Natalie said, "Aren't you scared I'll tell the Cullen family about this?"
Rosalie had thought about it. "I planned to take this secret to my grave. I never thought it would come out like this. It's fair if you tell the Cullen family; they're your real family."
Rosalie said, "Alice had twenty years of a good life. You're the older sister, she's the younger one. Blame me for what she did wrong; it's all on me. It has nothing to do with you two. I'll take the fall for my mistakes."
Alice was about to marry into the Howard family now. She saved Claire's life; the Howard family wouldn't turn her away. No need to worry that revealing the truth would make Avery blame her.
Natalie suddenly remembered something. "Hey, do you remember my bracelet? The one you gave to Alice? That bracelet was a gift from Adrian to me."
