Chapter 83 The Wedding
Adrian's eyes slowly darkened, a sudden suspicion forming in his mind as he observed the red knot hanging from Natalie's phone. It could have been a mere coincidence, as many people might fashion such a knot, yet a flicker of hope ignited within him.
He spoke, "That day, were you..."
"Mr. Howard," a servant's voice interrupted from outside the room. "Mr. Howard, it's time for dinner."
The glimmer of hope in Adrian's eyes gradually faded, and he responded with a cold, "I know."
He cast one last lingering look at Natalie before he departed.
Once Adrian's figure had completely vanished from her sight, Natalie's anxiety finally began to subside. She gathered her cleaning tools and waited for a moment before cautiously pushing open the door and stepping out.
She had intended to avoid others, but to her surprise, she ran into Lizzy the moment she emerged. Lizzy looked at her with astonishment, "Natalie?"
As Lizzy spoke, her gaze shifted to the small balcony, disbelief etched in her eyes. 'Mr. Howard just left from here, didn't he?'
Lizzy had been cleaning the floor outside and had seen Adrian leave just two minutes ago. Now, she was witnessing Natalie emerge from the same place.
'Natalie was actually with Mr. Howard...' Lizzy thought.
"Natalie, you and..." Lizzy said.
"Hush!" Natalie quickly silenced Lizzy. "Lizzy, you have to keep this a secret for me."
"Oh my god, you were really with Mr. Howard?" Lizzy's eyes widened as she lowered her voice.
Natalie knew Lizzy had misunderstood, but recalling the scene on the balcony, she found it hard to articulate an explanation.
She shook her head. "It's not what you think."
Lizzy's gaze turned mischievous as she teased, "Not what? Wow, you even managed to get Mr. Howard. Ms. Cullen would be so jealous if she found out."
Lizzy felt a sense of relief at the thought but also couldn't help worrying about Natalie due to Alice's pregnancy. Natalie knew that she couldn't clarify the situation to Lizzy. She sighed and said, "It's really not what you think it is. Anyway, just don't talk about it, okay?"
"Okay, I understand. Don't worry, go back to work. Otherwise, Mrs. Howard will scold you again."
"Okay, thank you, Lizzy."...
During lunch, Ruben occupied the main seat, with Melissa, Adrian, and Rachel seated beside him in that order.
Although Ruben appeared somewhat stern, it was evident that he also harbored a joyful expression due to Alice's pregnancy.
Avery took the opportunity to propose, "Alice's pregnancy is a great joy for both of our families. Since her belly hasn't grown much yet, should we plan the wedding sooner?"
Adrian frowned slightly.
Ruben looked at him calmly and asked, "Adrian, what do you think?"
Adrian glanced at Alice and saw the anticipation she couldn't hide on her face.
Marriage was something that was bound to happen sooner or later. If it were before, he might have agreed to her suggestion, but now...
Adrian withdrew his gaze and said calmly, "The wedding is a big event that requires careful discussion before setting a date."
Melissa also nodded, "Indeed, when the Howard family holds a wedding, it should be grand and well-planned. Alice, don't worry, it will happen in due time. Take good care of yourself."
Hearing this, Avery didn't say anything further and echoed, "You're right, I was too hasty."
Alice was pregnant now, so their wedding was inevitable.
Avery wasn't in a hurry, but Alice couldn't wait. She knew exactly whose child she was carrying in her belly, and the longer it dragged on, the more anxious she felt.
