Chapter 1105 Keep Your Distance
Right now, Natalie was really in a tough spot, totally caught off guard by Andrea's sneaky move.
After Andrea took off, Adrian turned to Natalie and said, "Sit down, we need to talk."
His tone was all business, like they were in some boardroom meeting.
Natalie felt a sharp pain in her chest; she and Adrian had never felt so distant.
But she was sure this was just a phase.
Sitting on the edge of the bed, Natalie reached out to adjust Adrian's blanket.
Out of nowhere, Adrian grabbed her wrist, clearly uncomfortable with her touch.
"Natalie, even though you're my wife, I don't remember you. Right now, you're a stranger to me. Until I get my memory back, let's just stay out of each other's way."
Natalie's eyelashes fluttered as she stared at Adrian, stunned.
"In short, aside from being my wife in name, you're a stranger to me. I'm more familiar with anyone in the Howard family than I am with you. I'm not used to strangers touching me."
"And Andrea is my sister. I don't know what went down between you two, but don't make things hard for her. If I catch you bullying Andrea again, I won't let it slide," Adrian added.
Natalie bit her lip hard. It took her a while to ask, "What do you mean by 'won't let it slide'?"
"Divorce," he said, like it was no big deal.
Natalie was shaken to her core.
The Adrian in front of her felt like a complete stranger.
Adrian let go of her hand, his gaze sharp. "Natalie, I hope you respect Andrea."
"Okay, I get it." Her voice was weak, her expression calm as she helped Adrian adjust the pillow behind him, then bent down to gently button up his shirt.
The buttons had come undone during a check-up, and two were still unbuttoned.
"Adrian, I'll do whatever you say. I know you've only temporarily forgotten me. I believe that one day, you'll remember me again, and that day isn't far off."
Natalie's voice was soft, like leaves floating on water, drifting with the breeze, and it also touched Adrian's heart.
Looking at Natalie, Adrian had to admit she was really beautiful, with a flawless face. Maybe, before he lost his memory, he really liked her.
Natalie spent the whole afternoon in the ward with Adrian, neither of them saying much.
She read a script while Adrian rested after his IV drip.
When he was awake, he looked at a tablet for a while. Natalie asked if he felt any discomfort.
Even though Adrian was awake, his legs were still a bit stiff when walking.
Natalie seemed to think of something and stood up, walking over. "Do you need to go to the bathroom? I'll help you."
Adrian placed his hand on her shoulder, leaning in slightly, catching a faint scent of cherry blossoms from her hair.
Suddenly, he was dazed for a couple of seconds. This scent seemed to be etched deep in his memory. "What perfume is that?"
It felt familiar.
Natalie said, "I don't really use perfume. It's probably my shampoo."
