Chapter 1059 Discovering Clues

"You've got a killer body. We must've hooked up a lot back in the day. No wonder I made you my girlfriend." Yancy leaned in close, his voice a whisper in Heather's ear. "Last night, you got wasted and came onto me. We had a blast."

Heather shivered and took a step back.

Yancy's familiar scent surrounded her, making her feel trapped. Looking at him, Heather suddenly felt like she didn't know him at all.

Yancy walked over to the bed, pulled out his wallet, counted some cash, and handed it to Heather. "Here, take this."

Heather stared at him, disbelief written all over her face. She clenched her teeth, her voice shaking. "What are you doing?"

"Don't you want the money?" Yancy tossed the cash on the floor. "We're done, but if you need money, just ask me. No need to hang out at bars with those losers every night. Get your act together, Heather."

"It was just a mistake." Heather's memory started to clear up. 'I thought the scenes from last night were just a bad dream. Turns out I drank too much and was about to leave when some jerk started bothering me. I tried to get away, but couldn't. Just when things were about to get ugly, Yancy showed up and helped me. Then I blacked out. So it really was Yancy.'

"If it was a mistake, let's make sure it doesn't happen again. If it does, don't let it happen in front of me. One show of this drama is enough. If there's a next time, I won't be there to save you," Yancy said with a smirk.

"I don't need your help. Yancy, like you said, we're done. We're nothing to each other." Heather grabbed her bag from the floor. "My life is none of your business."

She stepped over the scattered money and pulled out a card from her bag. "There's a hundred grand on this. Consider it payment for saving me last night and for your 'services'." She tossed it at Yancy and walked out.

Yancy was caught off guard by Heather's boldness, stunned for a moment. By the time he snapped out of it, Heather was long gone. He picked up the card from the floor and let out a mocking laugh. "Heather, you've definitely got my attention now."

He lit a cigarette and took a couple of drags when his phone rang.

Yancy looked around and finally picked up a phone from the floor, but it wasn't his. It was Heather's, showing a call from Natalie.

He knew Natalie well, the wife of the CEO of the Howard Group and a famous actress. So Heather was Natalie's manager. But he didn't answer the call. Instead, he turned down the volume and slipped her phone into his pocket.

Heather didn't go home. She took a cab to the nearest mall, bought a new outfit, and tossed her old clothes in the trash. Then she headed back to the Dynamic Entertainment building. It wasn't until she got there that she realized her phone was missing. She figured she must've left it at the bar last night. But the bar was closed during the day, so she'd have to look for it later, if she could even find it.

Heather sighed, sitting in her office, rubbing her temples. She never expected Yancy to change so much. The Yancy she knew would never have said those things to her.
