Chapter 811 A Decent Person Does Not Take What Others Love
"Hey there, gorgeous," Lauchelle said, grabbing Natalie's hand and giving it a polite kiss.
Natalie knew this was just Lauchelle's way of being polite, but she was still totally lost about what was going on with this estate. She was completely baffled.
Lauchelle plopped down on the couch and started explaining, "About two weeks ago, I promised Rebecca I'd host a debutante ball here. But now, this estate is yours. I still really hope you'll agree to the event. The eldest daughter of the Henderson family is a good friend of mine. This estate is my pride and joy; I didn't sell it even when offered a crazy amount of money. But I lost to Adrian, so now this estate is his—well, actually, it's yours."
Natalie cottoned on.
This estate, worth billions, was really given to her by Adrian.
She remembered mentioning it once, but Adrian had taken it seriously.
Besides being shocked, Natalie felt touched.
But the price of this villa was just too much. After calming down, Natalie said to Lauchelle, "I can't accept this; it's way too valuable. And like you said, it's your pride and joy. A decent person doesn't take what others love. Sorry. I can't do that."
"You surprise me," Lauchelle said, looking at Natalie. This time, his eyes had a hint of curiosity and amusement, like he was starting to take her seriously. "I had a beloved woman. Fifteen years ago, I spent $1.9 billion building this estate, planting her favorite orchard and my favorite coffee. Every design here was her idea. But she left, and this place is filled with memories of us. I come here every year to spend some time."
Lauchelle's voice was full of deep emotion, and he seemed to drift back to those good old days.
In this middle-aged man's eyes, Natalie saw tenderness.
Lauchelle continued, "We came from different places but, and our first meeting was magical. She stood under a tree, painting me. She was a very famous artist, and in her painting, I looked really handsome. We fell in love then, but we didn't end up together."
Lauchelle sighed, "It's a pity we went our separate ways. At a street corner, we chose different paths in life. I went back to my country and my family. I inherited my father's estate and married the girl my family chose for me."
