Chapter 493 Framed
Lucy's face went pale; she never thought Nicholas would blow up like that. She always pegged him as a spoiled brat, burning through the Reynolds family's cash on wild parties. But now, there was something icy in his eyes that sent shivers down her spine.
"Alright, I'll tell Mrs. Reynolds the truth about Mr. Austin Reynolds' condition." Lucy turned to leave, throwing a look at Bella. "Ms. Swan, you stay here and look after Mr. Austin Reynolds."
Even Bella, as clueless as she could be, got it. She'd been set up by Lucy and Cassidy.
Cassidy had played nice, letting Lucy bring her to the hospital to see Austin, but really, she was just putting Bella in a tough spot.
Seeing her with Lucy, Nicholas and the others would definitely think she was in on Cassidy's schemes, pushing her away.
Bella felt Nicholas's intense stare, knowing no amount of explaining would help her now.
"Mr. Reynolds, I want to go in and see Austin," Bella said.
Nicholas stepped forward, casting a shadow over Bella.
Bella instinctively stepped back.
Nicholas kept advancing.
Bella kept retreating until her back hit the wall.
"What are you gonna do?" Bella asked.
Nicholas slammed his fist into the wall next to her head. Bella gasped and shut her eyes, but the hit she expected never came. She remembered the call Nicholas had made to her early that morning and knew he must hate her now.
When she opened her eyes, she met Nicholas's cold, bloodshot gaze. He hadn't slept all night. Bella's voice shook. "I'm not one of Cassidy's people."
"No need to explain to me," Nicholas said, his voice low and menacing. "You think I'd believe you?"
Nicholas's other hand gripped Bella's chin tightly. "I told you, if anything happens to Austin, I won't let you or the Swan family off."
Bella felt a sharp pain in her chin, and her eyes welled up. Nicholas looked at the clarity in her eyes and sneered. Was this the look that had fooled Austin?
Brian watched from the side, knowing Nicholas's temper and wanting to step in, afraid Nicholas might do something rash. "Mr. Reynolds."
Nicholas let go of her, glaring at her with a fierce intensity.. "You might've fooled Austin, but you can't fool me."
Brian sighed in relief when Nicholas let go, knowing Nicholas's temper and fearing he might hurt Bella.
Even though Bella was sent by Cassidy, this was still a hospital. If Nicholas hurt Bella, it would be easier for Cassidy to use it against him.
Bella didn't leave. She stood outside the ward, wanting to see how Austin was doing.
She wouldn't leave until she saw that Austin was okay.
But Nicholas blocked her way. "Get out."
"No!" Bella clenched her fists. "Why are you being such a jerk? You have no right to stop me from seeing Austin!"
Looking at the face in front of her that resembled Austin's but was filled with a sinister aura, Bella hadn't expected Nicholas to be so vile!
Even if he suspected her, even if he was Austin's brother, he had no right to stop her from seeing Austin!
"I'm here to see Austin, not you! Nicholas, even if you're his brother, you have no right to block me."
Nicholas, seemingly not expecting the petite woman in front of him to talk back, saw the fear in her eyes.
