Chapter 622 Caught

When Ava swung open the door and strolled in, Frank was deep into his game. He didn't even bother to hit pause when he heard her footsteps. "Hey, whip me up some instant noodles," he said without looking up.

Ava rolled her eyes. "Seriously, can't you make them yourself?"

But even with the sass, she still went over to make him those noodles.

The smell of the noodles finally got Frank's attention. He glanced up at Ava, noticing her new outfit and the pendant around her neck. "New bling?" he asked.

"Yeah," Ava replied, not worried about Frank finding out. She often bought branded stuff, but they were all knock-offs.

Frank just shrugged and kept slurping his noodles.

"By the way," Ava said, "once you're done eating, pack up. We gotta bounce. This place is getting sketchy."

Frank nodded, feeling the same unease. "Where are we gonna crash?"

"Anywhere's better than here," Ava replied. "Hurry up and eat; we need to jet while Julian's out."

After packing, Ava shot a message to Aiden and pulled out a packet of drug from her bag. Aiden had given it to her; it would knock someone out for a whole day. When her food delivery arrived, she mixed the drug into the food.

Just then, Mason was coming up the stairs.

Ava spotted him. Mason was actually pretty good-looking, tall and built. She walked over with the food, saying, "Hey Mason, got you something to eat. You've been busting your butt with the bar renovation. Must be exhausting."

Mason scratched his head, looking a bit shy. "Thanks."

Mason's job was to keep tabs on Ava and Frank, but seeing Ava bring him food, he let his guard down.

He was indeed tired. The Blue Bar had taken a beating from the last incident, and he'd been working all morning. Hungry, he didn't think twice and started eating.

Seeing Mason dig in, Ava sighed in relief, smiled, and went back to her room. About ten minutes later, she peeked out and saw Mason already knocked out in the hallway.

Ava and Frank had their stuff ready. Seeing Mason out cold, they quickly slipped out the back door.

They only relaxed once they were in the car. Frank, still a bit jittery, asked, "What did Mason eat? Why'd he crash like that? Is he gonna be okay?"

Ava grinned. "Chill, it's just something to make him sleepy. He'll be fine."

Frank looked out the window and asked, "Where are we headed?"

Ava remembered Aiden's instructions and kept it vague. "Got a friend with an empty place. We can crash there for now."

Half an hour later, they pulled up to a swanky apartment complex in Vachilit.

Frank was taken aback by the fancy digs. "When did you start rolling with rich friends?"

Ava looked a bit annoyed. "My old friends are doing way better now," she said, sounding a bit bitter. "Unlike me, stuck with you, always on the run."

Frank quickly put his arm around her shoulder. "It's all on me. Let's just get upstairs."
